You have to change the permissions on the folder that is trying to be accessed to allow full control, but TurboTax is broken in other ways and you may not be able to reinstall anyway. Horrible coding on TT 2008.

I am very familiar with the error that you are talking about and it has nothing to do with your TurboTax disk. In order to install your disk, you need to remove your AVG virus software and reinstall it later when your finished filing your taxes. There is a problem with the older versions of AVG thinking that TurboTax is a virus and it will block the installation of the program. Go to your control panel, and remove AVG completely. Reboot your pc. Run disk cleanup (Start, programs, system tools & click on disk cleanup) and check all available boxes when asked. Then run disk defrag (located in the same place as disk cleanup as noted above). Then put your TurboTax disk back in your pc and try to install again. If you cannot get the disk to install, you can reach us for customer support by going to www.turbotax.intuit.com. Click on the support link and then move all the way down almost to the bottom of the page and look for the box on the right side that says "Contact us". Choose the option that best describes your problem and it will forward you to your choice of contact method (we have chat email and phone service all available at no charge to you). We are open from 5am until 9pm pst.

I have the same error msg when I uninstalled and reinstalled Skype. I am using windows XP
In some cases when you try to upgrade Skype from an earlier version to a newer version you may get the error message: "The Older version of Skype cannot be removed. Please contact your technical Support Group".
The error 1603 occurs during the process of uninstallation of the previous Skype version in case Skype is not able to find the cached PluginManager.msi file on your system.
First solution:
* Download and install Windows Installer CleanUp Utility from Microsoft site.
* Run the utility and remove "Skype Plugin Manager"
* Delete Skype\Plugin Manager folder manually. It is usually under folder C:\Program Files\Skype
* Install Skype 3.5.

Second Solution:
* Download the archive from:https://developer.sk...staller_fix.zip
* Unpack it to some folder. Make sure PluginManager.msi is located in same folder as fix.bat
* Run fix.bat Wait until the process is finished before proceeding
* Download version 3.5 and install it.

I can't install windows live messenger, it encounter a network error while attempting to read from the file C:\WINDOWS\Installer\Messenger.msi
I found the site below and thought of your situation. Here is the message I received:

I'm getting fatal error "MSI.netdevicemanager01" when installing the software for my new HP C309a.
step 1>
remove netdevicemanager.msi from windows cleanup utility.
then try to install software again.

step 2>
remove netdevice manager from registry.
hklm > software > hewlett packard under hewlett packard you will find many {4dfg324.........} entries on left. if you will check each one of these code entries has its discription on right hand side of registry window. each one of these are for scan.msi, solution center.msi.... etc. fine out netdevicemanager.msi adn uninstall that {code} key from hewlett packard. these code keys may also be found in same location under hewlett packard under install key or installed options.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility which is free from here
  • Install the utility
  • Run the cleanup utility (usually found on the START / (ALL) PROGRAMS menu).
  • Scroll down until you see 'PhotoGallery'
  • Select Remove
  • Shut down the computer (not RESTART), wait 20-30 seconds, then power back up.
Reinstall Hp photo gallery if you still want to use it or need it.

Problem downloading Itunes on Dell P.C.
try the following procedure.

first, head into your start> control panel >Add/Remove programs and uninstall your QuickTime. if it goes, good. if it doesn't, we'll just attend to it when we attend to itunes.

next, download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. use it to clear any existing itunes and/or QuickTime installation configuration information from the PC.

next, use the the following document as a guide for manual removal of leftover itunes and quicktime program files:

Error 1706 & error occured while loading savrt32.dll
They are the manual instructions but Symantec to have an automatic removal tool floating around. put the CD back in the drive (or get access to it from it's directory or whatever) then repair it as follows:

C:\> msiexec /i "D:\SAV\Symantec AntiVirus.msi"

let it go through it's dog&pony show then when it's done, uninstall it properley:

C:\> msiexec /x "D:\SAV\Symantec AntiVirus.msi" or

Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility package from:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-45b8-80e8-983a48d5e1bd/msicuu2.exe

Install and run. Remove the offending Symantec Install Package from the list. Wella.
