DVDR05 Power Supply Board: No output, top blown

Is the power source/transformer
output to spec
looks a bit past it in your photo

resistors drop ......capacitors increase

look for leaks or printed board burns

Check power supply. Check the fuse. If it isn't blown, check all components within this board, including the IC regulators (however many this model uses for PSU - should be marked IC1 or similar reference) - check for short-circuit/open-circuit/leakage. Also check all of the electrolytic capacitors - some may have leaked. Check resistors diodes etc. for shorts, leakage or open circuit. Also go over the entire board for dry solder joints too - just to be sure, and re-solder any suspect joints. If the power supply uses a transformer, check this for open windings, particularly on its primary side (the side facing the power cord), most switchmode power supplies use a chopper transformer which can sometimes fail.

If you are in any doubt, you can always get a second opinion. It may or may not incur a fee. But either way, patience plays an important part in this. You should not need to buy a new player - fingers crossed, that it's something simple.

How is the power supply module? Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.

We can probably look up the part numbers, but we'd need the make and model of the unit. Can you please update this with that info? Also, is the IC marked on the board IC1 or IC4? Hopefully you can also indicate which IC is smoked. When we look this up, we will provide other parts that need to be checked. It is unusual for an IC in the power supply to be the only failed part.

Serious problem either in the power supply or output stages of receiver.

Most electronic components are available at any large parts warehouse, except maybe the power transformer, and other indigenous parts. What part of the power supply do you need?...accordianman

whenever any fusible resistance fails means there is a short ckt in tv. failure is mainly due to main filter cap or rectifire diode os switching ckt failure(here as you cleared str.) remember while servicing power supply isolate hor. section for safety purpose.& connect it only after power supply output is ok &after checking parts in hor. ouyput section. if this seems to be ok then go for hor.output ckt failure like hor output,flyback transformer & cap& diodes connected with it.
