My Maytag front loading washer MAH4000AWW will not drain?
First drain as much water from the drum as possible and unplug from the outlet. Then there are 2 screws left and right under the front lower panel at floor level. Undo those two screws. Pry the front panel DOWN from the door panel. Once the lower panel is removed you will see the pump and pump filter on your right. The pump filter is to the left. It has a large turnscrew. Be ready with a pan or something to catch the water from the open filter! Screw this counterclockwise until it comes loose. You will now be able to remove the filter and all the debris. After cleaning, re-screw the turnscrew. Before you put back the front panel test that it is clear by doing a wash. If it still doesnt drain you must remove debris from the pump itself. The pump is between the pump filter and the pump motor on the right. Undo the white clips from the motor and the retaing clips attiching the filter to the metal washer body. Then turn the motor clockwise to separate it from the filter. Refit carefully after job is done. And fit outlet tube a correct height, not too deep. <courtesy tzotsi>
You can remove the top and check the connections at the main control. Just be sure not to change anything, just make sure all the plugs are pushed in to the connectors properly.
Some have called the 1-800 number have gotten excellent service (parts and labour paid for) and some have got nothing. Scratching my head now. Also take another look at the pump impeller for any obstruction. Re. connections & the board quality is being replaced by quantity. How about surfing the whirlpool site?
Check, clean motor brushes, if less than 1 cm, replace.

Check for obstruction in pump located at back of machine. Remove back panel and pump will be located on left hand side.
Maytag repairmen make a fortune removing quarters from pumps. Check your pump for your problem.
Depends if you can hear the drain motor kicking on or not. If you can hear it turning and/or water draining, then your drain hose is plugged up and needs to be cleared. If not, then it could be a drain motor or main control board problem. Unfortunately this series is so old, they are hardly worth repairing and parts are getting hard to find.

two problems here,
your shaft seal is running on its last leg
the sound is unmistakeable and always described the same...
the water issue, you probably have a trickle leak through the cold water valve
the mixing valve is quite an easy repair, but I would have to say with all honesty, it probably time for a new machine
the hub seal is a tub replacment call
2 hrs of labor if hes good
and the tub runs around 500.00 dollars
sory for the bad news

Sounds like an object is stuck in the pump. Does the pump activate? Does it try to pump out water. Please let me know.
Hi
First
make sure that nothing is blocking the drain pump assembly located inside the
bottom of the unit, after this test the door lock-switch assembly. If the door
lock-switch is also fine then the control board should be replaced. Hope this
helps...please post back for further assistance.

I have removed the pump and all hoses leading to and from the pump and I can not find any obstruction. But, the on/off light goes off just before the machine starts to go into its spin cycle and that is where a problem lies. The machine srarts to rev-up and then just shuts right down.
Any suggestions?
