My iPod classic (30GB) keeps showing "do not

Try holding down the menu/center button for at least 10-15 seconds, if that does not reset it try the center button and play/pause combo for the same time period (I used to have the same model as you, one of these 2 combos usually worked).

You can also try connecting your ipod to another computer with iTunes on it to see if its a software or hardware problem with your iPod. Or you can uninstall/reinstall iTunes and see what happens after a fresh install

and yea you can let the battery run out overnight if you want, but if you do get to fix it I'd say back up your music on the iPod through a program like iDump or something in the meantime

Hi,sliding function not working, any help? andy

Try the following

Turn the ipod off and then on again.

If that does not work reset the ipod while it is connected to the power. You do this by pressing and holding the sleep/wake button and the home button at the same tme for at least 10 seconds, until either the apple logo or battery symbol appears. If the battery symbol appears, charge the ipod until it is fully charged.

Hope this helps.

How to unlock ipod nano 4gb

Check the tab up on the top of the iPod and make sure that it is not showing orange. If it is, push it so that it is not showing orange anymore. If that doesn't work, hold down the center button and the top where it says "menu" then when you see the apple symbol appear on the screen continue to hold the center but then press and hold the play/pause key.

Keeps freezing on me, especially when I forward to

Your best bet would be to do a soft reset of the ipod:
  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.

  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  2. Press and hold the Play/Pause and Menu buttons simultaneously until the Apple/iPod logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

If this does not work then you may have to re-format the ipod in itunes. If you click on the ipod in itunes you should see a RESTORE option on the main page.
