Try inserting a(n) SD chip into the player and then try restarting. If it gets stuck on the refresh database screen, plug it into your computer. It's the only thing that unfroze my e280.

Sansa Sandisk stuck on "Refresh Database" screen. It will not reset.

1. Hold down the Power/Reset button for about 15 seconds to perform a normal reset.

2. Let the battery drain all the way so it will power off. If that doesn't work, then try to flash the firmware that's available from Sansa's website.

Battery is too low. System shut down

Have you tried removing and replacing your battery? What about the connections and cord, are they damaged at all?

Sansa disk e 260

I had the same problem with mine freezing. It happened when I kept pressing the back track button (on left side) to go back to an earlier song. It then froze in the middle of a song, couldn't hear the song, the time of the song was frozen, etc., and the unit stayed lit, despite pressing all the buttons. I tried holding down power but nothing happened. I read another person's post that you need to hold it down 15-30 seconds. I did this and it worked, you just have to hold it down until it shuts down, which was about 15 seconds as suggested, could be longer for others.
For me, next time I wont keep clicking the tracks repeatedly, I'll simply go out of the song and back to the song I want through the menu.
Thank you for the good posts. Glad I didn't have to mess with the battery like others....

Dead Player

Hmmm...the MP3 parts shouldn't have lined up with the iPod dock. Check that area for damage in case your son accidentally forced it. Otherwise, hold the power button for 15 seconds. That can occasionally jump-start my player, and it turns the player off even if it is frozen.

Frozen screen

You have to reset the mp3. All you have to do is turn it on and hold the power button for about 15 seconds, or until it shuts off itself. And if that doesn't work you can unskrew the skrews at the back and take out teh battery pack for one second, and put ti right back. That way it would reset on itself and nothing will go missing...

Good luck =)
