What size battery does vivitar 5-700 use - Optics

What size SD card are you trying to use?
Since this is an older camera, you might be limited in the size of the SD card that it will accept.

You may download a copy of the manual here. The X029 uses SD or SDHC cards, any size and speed will work. The X029 uses this battery.

It uses a Rayovac 5100LB or equivalent, also used by a number of cell phones. Try looking among cell phone batteries.

The diagonal comes in 3 sizes --- .965, 1.25, and 2 inch sizes. Measure the hole in the focuser and buy the correct size. The .965 size is difficult to find. Try these online retailers:

Vivitar say this camera supports SD cards up to 8 GIGABYTES. That's hours of video I would think, depending on the quality you record at.

According to the specs on Vivitar's web site it takes SD cards up to 2GB in size and SDHC cards up to 8GB in size.

takes 2 AA batteries, if this is a vivitar camera, ordinary one not lithium
