Mirror is stuck in "up" position and film will not advance

I was having problems with the mirror in my Ricoh XR-10, but got past it until the film also stopped advancing. i can get that to happen if i twist the little turntable on the bottom right of the camera, but the shutter wont open and that dosent help the mirror. should i get this cleaned or is it a much worse problem?

Normally, stuck mirror is due to weak batteries with a elcetromagnetic shutter like the Ricoh. Try with brand new silver oxides and see if it helps!

My advance lever is stuck o my Ricoh camera. I had a roll of film get stripped in it and took it out in the dark room and developed it but now even with no film in it the lever won't advance. I've looked...

Your camera is in cocked position with shutter fully cocked and that is why you cannot advance the film advance lever. Set the shutter to x position ( on your shutter speed dial on the right hand side and top of your camera ) . The shutter should release and then you should be able to advance the film advance lever.

Ricoh KS Super II 35mm SLR camera will not advance film and the shutter will not work. i love this camera and hate to throw it away. can i get it fixed somewhere and how much will it cost?

If the batterys are ok ,try rotating the speed control to X and the mirror will unlock from its upper position and the film will advance next time you try. Also the camera will not operate unless the leaver is moved away from its rest position, ie level with the camera body to its first movement area.

Blank film

Make sure when you load your film, that the cogs are actually winding the film. Many a roll has been "shot" with the film ever advancing. If you see what your taking, that is really about all that it could be.

Ricoh XR-10 35mm SLR camera

stevdan,

take the screws off the bottom cover. there is a small lever pointing toward the front of camera with a black screw on it. gently move it to the left, this will release the lock lever. Now advance the lever and the shutter should fire. if not, it is not repairable. no parts
