How do you know theres power to the unit if theirs no strobe light pitch adjuster light & the platter doesn't spin?
the power comes in & to the transformer first, then through the strobe switch, the transformer is what blows when you short the target light out.....i've seen this many a time when people try & change the target lights to blue neon.

well i'm presuming there is power going through it because the lights where the 33 & 45 rpm button are, they are actually on but they stay lit up for some unknown reason.

Check that your voltage settings are set correctly. This is located underneath your turntable platter. If you remove the slipmat, you will see 2 holes on the metal platter. Rotate the platter till you see the voltage switch, located @ the 9'o'clock position. Make sure it's set to your correct settings (N.America = 115V / Euro = 220V). If not, you will need a flat head screw driver to switch it. Before you switch it, make sure your unit is off and unplugged. After you swich it, it should be ok.

If your still having issues with the speed and the pop-up light, then there is something seriously wrong, and will need to be checked by a technician. Sometimes a resistor or IC will go bad, causing the speed issue, but for the pop-up light - that's usually faulty wiring generally caused by an incorrect replacement.

As everything was normal before you started the work, I'm thinking you might have disturbed something. Such as caused a wiring plug to come loose. Maybe even a bad solder joint somewhere?

Pitch adjustment

There's a variable resistor with the name pitch besides it... first clean it and then you put your pitch fader in the middle and turn it with a screw driver, put your platter on the unit, the plastic black plate you only have to unscrew and take off , nothing else., but like i said , but the platter on it and watch the strobe lights. Determine first which way you have to screw, it's just whole the time :taking of platter and turn screw a bit(don't forget to take of the electricity when you remove the platter), put it on and do that until the strobe stays steady.

Help for technics 1200 MK2 and 1210 Speed is too fast

On the 1200MK2 the pitch control slider is for just that purpose. Disregard the 0 setting and use the illuminated strobe marks on the platter to adjust to nominal speed. When they appear to be motionless you are there. The control on the 1210 may be a knob but the same principles apply.

Target light won't turn off

Your wires are crossed. You'll have to switch them out. Make sure when you put the wires back together, that they are covered properly with either electrical tape, or heat shrink tube. If any part of the wire is exposed and it touches the cabinet, it will ground/short out your turntable, and you'll have an even bigger and more expensive issue to fix.

Technics sl 1210 will not start up

did you ever open the turntable. It sounds like the on/off switch is bad. Remove the platter and screws with a phillips screw driver and just make sure the connections are in place. make sure you disconnect the power first. let me know what happens afterwards.
