Trouble changing a glow igniter on a GE Spectra xl44

I'm trying to change the glow igniter on a GE Spectra xl44. I've got them loose but can not see an obvious way of disconnecting it without cutting the wires. Does it disconnect at the igniter end or back behind the ''wall''?

I'm actually swapping out the broiler one for the bake one, was hoping to avoid cutting wires, there's no way to pull the wires out an just swap them?

Your replacement should have come with wire nuts.
Unplug the range.
Snip the wires and strip them back 3/8 inch and attach the wires from the replacement ignitor.

Oven won't work

Yes. The ignitor must register 2.9 amps or more to operate correctly and ignite the gas. Replace the ignitor.

well..that's a gas issue, not an ignitor issue..did you check for the pilot to be active? or is this pilot less?

Getting to the Pilot

Your model JGBP28DED2WH uses spark ignition on the stove top burners, and a glow bar ignitor, part number WB2X9154 for the oven and broiler. To get to the bake ignitor if oven will not light: Take the racks out of the oven. Remove oven floor by removing two screws at back of oven floor and lifting floor. Remove the square metal flame spreader to get to the burner / ignitor assembly. (note: The ignitor may still glow when you try it, but usually is still the problem)

Bake mode will not work

Is the bake igniter working ? There are two igniters one for bake and one for broil My guess is that the bake igniter is bad and only the broil igniter is working. part #WB2X9154.

Yes I had the same problem on my JGBBP79. Change the lower igniter. About $75. Keep the range for a few more years and get rid of it. The next problem you'll mostly likely have is the touch pad F1 error. That stupid thing is +$300 and nothing more than a membrane touch pad attached to some glass. :-(

Most likely the oven ignitor is bad or weak.  You can look at it and see how it compares to the broil ignitor.  If you see a whitish color on the ignitor and if it doesn't fully glow then it needs to be replaced.

Easy to install you just have to remove the racks and the bottom of the oven. Call a local appliance store with the model # and ask for the ignitor.
