Singer CG 550 Top thread keeps wraping around the bobbin and jam

I don't know what I am doing wrong...After I thread the machine either two things happen... the top thread wraps around the bobbin and immdeiately jams or the bobbin thread does not pull easy.

I am just trying to do a straight stitch and have my machine set: needle position center, 1, A, stitch width 3, tension 3

When it's threaded and the bobbin thread does not pull out easy when I sew you can see the top thread on teh underside of the fabric... I thought this was a tension problem but when I adjust the tension higher then the top thread loops around the bobbin and jams.

I have the exact same problem! I'm pretty sure I'm loading the bottom and top threads correctly. Did you ever find an answer to this problem?

Afterbonly a couple of stitches the machine makes a clunking noise and then jams. I'm not a very experienced seamstress. I have tried adjusting the settings but it doesn't seem to help. Any suggestions on what I should try.

Have you checked the top thread is correctly placed in the spring of the bobbin case?

Also check that the bobbin being used is for drop in bobbin machines (class 66). They are designed to have rounded sides allowing the top thread to slide over them once the hook releases it. I was switching from a Kenmore with a front loading bobbin & found that regular flat bobbins are too tall so when the hook releases the top thread instead of sliding over the bobbin, it gets wound around it.
Hope this is useful.

Re-thread! Raise presser foot up before you thread needle eye. If presser foot is sitting flat against plate when you thread, the thread cannot locate tension disks, and that means all the dial-turning and fiddling with tension control won't do one thing to change tension. Why? Tension disks can't open to allow thread to position. You can rest assured you'll be smiling and sewing in no time. Just remember to put in new needle, pushing all the up into the needle bar before tightening the needle clamp screw, and raise your presser foot BEFORE you thread your new needle (make sure, too, that needle size compatible with weight of your fabric). Hope this helps! I have over 30 years experience, and many times a solution is easy as pie if you don't panic and take a moment to take a deep breadth and know many here are ready to help you out!

I have a singer CG 590C. It didn't come with manual. I'm just learning to sew. My bobbin was hung up with thread when I pulled on it I pull the whole bobbin casing out. How do I get it back in? Help

First thing, you should probably get a manual for your machine.
Singer CG 590 Commercial Grade Manual

How to thread Singer CG 590

This machine is listed as a commercial grade professional sewing machine, so you are going to have some additional learning curve if you are just beginning to sew.

I just received a new Singer CG-590. Have threaded the machine and bobbin. Each time I try to pick up the bobbin thread, the top thread wraps around the bobbin case. It will not pick up the bobbin...

try turning the bobbin the opposite way, and if that doesn't help then take the machine back and get another one, maybe even a different model

make sure the bobbin is wound correctly

to a sewing machine shop to have it checked

I just purchased a singer cg-550/500 and after threading the machine and inserting the filled bobbin, I was unable to bring up the bobbin thread with the needle. I followed the instructions carefully but...

if im not mistaken, the bobbin when you place it in the bottom, you have to thread it is as well to the part where the needle comes down and collects and goes back up. please re-look at instructions for placement of bobbin

Singer simple the machine keeps jaming

I would say that the threading is wrong somewhere, watch your dvd and read the owners manual, also go to Singer.com FAQ for your machine, If the jamming is underneath, it is the top threading problem, on top, it is the bobbin thread either has lint or stray thread or thread not coming out the right direction for your bobbin, I am sure that it is just a simple solution, I also use metal SA 156 bobbins and have no problems,

Bobbin thread does not loop up when threading machine. Then the needle thread get wraped around the inside the bobbin sewing the material to the machine

There are so many thing you need to re-check.

First clean out the bobbin area to be sure there aren't any thread tangles still there.

Open the manual and start from the beginning with threading the machine with the presser foot lever UP - always.

Read the instructions and do not rely solely on the pictures as we all sometimes rush to do (I am just as guilty as the next person to do this).

Make sure the bobbin thread is feeding from the bobbin case in the correct direction.

Hold onto the end of the top thread (after needle has been threaded) and lower then raise the needle to catch and bring up the bobbin thread.

Place the fabric under the presser foot and as you hold onto the ends of the top and bobbin thread, hand walk the first stitch, then use the power pedal.

If you need a manual, you can download (free) from Singer - http://www.singerco.com/accessories/manuals.html

Top thread keep breaking - It looks like I have threaded it correctly but when I use the wheel to pull up the bobbin thread it is wraped around the needle - not nice and neat like it is suposed to be

It sounds like you have a burr on the hook that picks up the thread. You would have to take out the bobbin case and file it off with a very fine sandpaper

I have a singer cg 550 sewing machine and I am not sure which slot to put the bobbin thread in first

If you put the bobbin in the case with the thread coming off in a clockwise direction, the thread should just fall into a slot and gently tug on the thread and it will slide through the tensions. Lay it across the bobbin case and then pick up the thread with the needle.
