The darndest thing, after battery replacement, it does not want to count up the minutes, remaining in the 30 position (straight up). At the Seiko support page - http://www.seikousa.com/pdf/SDW_Series.pdf - a brief overview of setting the alarm, resetting second hand... but no advice on getting the minute hand to count up.
The watch wasn't jostled or gnarled on - the minute function simply doesn't work anymore. Would be willing to DIY if it's a simple procedure.

You often need to do a full reset on 7T32s (& other seikos) after a battery change. there is a small reset contact in the rear of the movement which needs to be shorted to the top of the battery (the movement is engraved with wording to this effect, something like "AC reset", I can't remember exactly). you might also try pulling out the crown all the way (2 clicks) then holding both upper pushers in for a few seconds. it's unlikely to be a buggered motor unless it's one of the subdials that's failed.

OMG! I have had the same problem with my Seiko Coutura stop watch stopping about 7 seconds after the 12:00 position. I found that if I push the crown all the way in, and hold just the lower button, it allows the second hand to move. You release it wherever you want it to stop and it now stays and resets back to there when I use the stop watch. Thanks for the ideas!
