***Need Help Connecting HP Pavilion dv6500 (running Win Vista SP1) To Panasonic Plasma!!
ADVICE NEEDED ASAP PLEASE!! I'm trying to connect my HP Pavilion Dv6500 Notebook (only has VGA port for some reason) to my Panasonic Viera Plasma, which ofcourse only has HDMI inputs. I know about the converter boxes with scaling but they're expensive and not in any stores so gotta order off internet...and I really want this to work TODAY!!
So I plugged a VGAtoDVI attachment straight into laptop, then DVItoHDMI attachment straight into that one, and then HDMI cord from there to Tv HDMI input....but it's still not picking my laptop up on the Tv screen....please help getting frustrated! AND, was also wondering if I should install Win Vista SP2 -OR- Get Windows 7 instead??

Start taking your laptop apart piece by piece and test it after each removed component: 1. Remove the hard drive and test the laptop. 2. Remove the DVD drive and test the laptop. 3. Remove the wireless card and test the laptop. 4. Unplug the display panel from the motherboard/video card and test the laptop. etc.... Continue taking it apart until you have only three major components connected: motherboard (with video card), processor, and memory. If you still experience the same problem, most likely it's bad motherboard. By the way, before you start, try reconnecting the memory module. If you have two modules installed, try removing them one by one and test the laptop with each one separately
