Sounds like the internal switch has ether move position or has become defective. You Will have to remove the upper console and locate the switch either on upper electronics or the console assembly have a ohm available when using the key to engage the switch you'll see if its working properly

hi,

ERR 05 always means speed sensor problem. If it is defective or loose contact will always cause this issue. The sensor controls the pulley belt to rotate. So your treadmill is not working.
You need to pull the cover off. Check for burned wire or short circuit on the board and loose sockets.
Use multimeter to test the sensor.

I have common service Treadmills manual.Use it for having some idea.

TREADMILL ERROR MESSAGE

A proximity sensor is telling you the belt is incorrectly aligned. Probably too loose. Bolts on end of shafts control belt tension. Turn in if loose, out if too tight.

Freespirit treadmill

Turn treadmill off. Disconnect drive motor wires from lower control board (Mtr + and Mtr -)
terminals. Power up in OLS mode (FAST & START). Bring displayed speed up to 99.
Measure across the Mtr + and Mtr - terminals with your voltmeter (DCVolts). You should
measure at least 90 vdc on a 110V treadmill and 180 vdc on a 220V treadmill.
If you are not getting dc volts out of the lower board, replace it.
If you are measuring the proper dc voltage out, replace the drive motor.

Freespirit Treadmill

Did you try it before you bought it and it was working. when you move the unit and pluged it into the wall outlet was it on? if yes then you may have damaged the lower board. If you can not get that part then the treadmill has died. Is it a Bowflex or a Free spirit.
