Hay Kirk , most likely your door switch needs to be replaced if that doesn't help test all three fuses for continuity . good luck APPLIANCES R EN

If the heating element is getting very hot that means there is no air flow across it. If the drum doesn't turn then the blower is not turning causing the element to get very hot. Could be drum belt, drum rollers, or motor.

SOURCE: dryer runs...timer wont rotate and wont heat up

Good day,
Timer woun't run if there is n heat.
1. Check to see you are getting 230 volts to the machine. The motor uses only 115 so is not a good indication.
2. Remove back cover. You will need an ohm meter to test the components.
A. In the center bottom is a skinny white bakelite device held on with one screw. Remove one wire and check. It should check zero ohms. If not replace.
B. On the bottom right is a canister with the heating element terminals sticking out. They should test at 30 or less ohms. If not replace the heating element.
C. There are about 3 other limit thermostats in the area you're working. They should all check at zero ohms. Replace as needed.

Below is a tutorial on changing a heating element.

SOURCE: I have a Whirlpool dryer...Mod nu# WED5800SQ0,

Sounds like your capacitor has stopped functioning. Most dryers have capacitors ranging from 8 to 10 ohms which store energy and give the drum the initial energy boost to start it turning. Unplug the machine and take off the side that contains the motor. in there you will find a small cylindrical object with two connections, thats your capacitor, replace it

Limit thermostat , heres how you check thermostats Set your multimeter to the R X 1 setting. Take each of your meter's probes and touch one to each terminal. You are testing for continuity, and you should receive a reading of either zero or infinity. At room temperature, testing the thermostat should produce a reading of zero. But if a thermostat is tested when it is heated to its limit, a reading of infinity should be produced. I strongly recommend that you test your thermostat at room temperature.

My DWJR-ELE-2406026-FM54 dryer is getting hot but not drying the clothes. Even after 3 cycles they are still damp, not warm at all. What would that be?

Ventilation, check the vent hose and the vent pipe and the damper outside for restrictions probably clogged with lint. If the moisture can’t escape the clothes won’t dry.

Motor wouldn't start replaced the motor and it still won't start?

Did you replace the thermal limiter fuse inside the cabinet near the motor? It is likely burned out. Contact the repairclinic.com for the part or Sears.
