My 2000 Mercedes c230 is pulling to the right, bas/esp light is on, and steering wheel shimmies. Just had alignment and a brake flush 4 days ago. The shop that did the alignment is closed until monday, is it possible they messed up the brakes or alignment? Or is this a common problem?

Could it be the K40 relay, it appears to have a small amount of heat damage but no cracked solder on the circuit board. Pulled it out last week out of curiousity because my seats work intermittently. Any ideas?

Why you flush brake, could be bent wheel, worn out tie rod or you hit something.

SOURCE: Mercedes Benz C180 Fault Message Brake Assist.Visit Workshop BAS

Hi there

BAS is the Brake Assist System and if there is a malfunction it would only come into play in an Emergency stop while applying full pressure. BAS applies full braking force because people tend to lighten up their pressure on the pedal in these situations. I would suggest that the best thing to do is go to a Workshop or Service Center and have it checked out. Please remember to put a good rating on my profile.

Kind regards
Dustin Ellse

SOURCE: esp/bas light on, steering wheel off center after off roading

If your steering wheel is off center, this can cause the problem. Luckily this is very easy to fix -- you can do so even if you have little to no experience working on your vehicle.
1. Park the vehicle with the wheels facing straight ahead (drift forward until you are moving in a straight line). Don't worry about the steering wheel position. 2. Locate the steering drag link -- the diagonal rod coming from the bottom of the steering arm to the top of the passenger side steering knuckle (on the axle near the tire) 3. Loosen the two bolts on the rotating adjustment collar on this link. I believe these are 13mm. 4. Rotate the collar one way about two or three turns, check the steering wheel to ensure that the "Jeep" logo is perfectly horizontal. If it's not, continue rotating the collar (or move it in the opposite direction) until the wheel is centered. 5. Tighten down the nuts on the drag link adjuster. 6. Take her for a test drive and let me know how it worked!

My Mercedes has a shimmy when I put on the brakes. What could it be ?

It sounds like the ABS shudder. When you say 'new brakes' do you mean new pads or all new calipers? Did you pressure bleed the system from the caliper upwards to the reservoir?

My dash is displaying "BAS/ESP" light, and I've had to charge the battery just to get the vehicle started. Every time I turn off the car, the next day it will be dead again.

You have a bad relay fuse. Located in you fuse box under hood. Found this out on my own 2mts ago.ESP/BAS would only stop when battery cable was disconnected. Have not had another problem.

ASB,ESP INOPRATIVE

All you have to do after replacing the battery and the bas/esp light comes on is drive the vehicle. While your driving around is will allow the steering angle sensor to relearn. That's only if it says "bas/esp see owners manual" displayed on the cluster.

After having R/R main crossmember and arm bracket pulled and straighten and a rear alignment the esp/bas and traction has come on and will not go off. Please could someone tell me the problem.

Try resetting the ESP/BAS system, with the car idling turn the steering wheel completely to the left then to the right then back to straight.
