I followed the manual to wipe out every freq on my scanner (Pro 83 compact radio shack). The way it tells you is if you are having problems, you wipe it out then you can bring your freq back. I want to completely reprogram it. It was my Dad's and it is all messed up and I want to put the freq in correctly. Please, tell me how to wipe it out then manually put them in one by one. Thank You

With the scanner off, press and hold the 2, 9, and HOLD keys. While still holding them down, power on the scanner. Continue to hold the 2, 9, and HOLD keys until the display says CLEAR.
To RESET the PRO-84, turn the scanner OFF, then hold in the 2, 9 and HOLD keys and power the scanner ON. The word CLEAr will appear on the display to confirm the RESET. While the manual for the PRO-84 has not been posted by Radio Shack, it is essentially a red PRO-83. You can download/print the 83 manual here:
It is difficult to explain in simple terms but I will try.
Google rebanding.
Some radios can have their firmware updated but I don't think your PRO 2066 can.
Channel numbers and frequencies preprogrammed into your scanner have changed over the past few years.
When a data signal says go to channel X that channel is now Y, but your scanner is still looking for X

Radio Shack has a manual for the PRO-83 scanner online in Pdf format. It worked great for me and I honsetly could not tell any difference in the PRO-83 and my PRO-84 !! It worked great for me and I had my scanner set up and working very quickly!! Hope this helps you all as much as it did me.. the manual is for the PRO-83 200 Channel compact scanner w/signal stalker search and lighted keypad.

press the manual button a few times, and make sure there are actually some freq. programmed into the unit.
if there are freq other than 000.000000 in there, press the s/s (lockout) button and see if this unlocks the frequencies to allow them to be scanned.
