Tray one is usually set up as a multi-use tray. It provide a straighter paper path through the printer and is ideal for printing on thicker paper such as card stock, labels or transparencies. Tray 2 is for standard paper. The printer will usually default to tray one when paper is loaded. If not you can select it after you hit print, properties and select tray.
Switch off & on once the printer, load papers in both trays, go to system choose file ask to print, when dialog box appears go to properties, select tray2., the shoot print, check its printing or not. If its printing problem in tray1 paper sensor, clean it.Reason why its not taking from tray 2. In menu settings its selected default tray as tray1. if no paper present in tr1 printer ask to press OK choose another tray to print, during this period indicating error.Best to do: clean all paper path sensor tray1 and tray 2 to prevent further errors... Pl revert..best of luck..
You can only select a paper size from the operation panel that the machine has loaded in the paper trays. If your are trying to select A3 and A3 does not show up in the list of available paper sizes then either you do not have that size loaded or the paper size dial in the tray is not set properly. These Ricoh's use a paper size dial in each tray that is designed to tell the machine what paper you have placed in that tray. So it is somewhat common for me to hear from people who have this problem because the paper was changed without changing the dial or the dial has been accidentally moved. I would check the paper size dial in each tray to be sure it is correct.

Assuming the printer is otherwise working ok and we are talking about a Windows operating system....
When you choose the Print command from the drop-down menu in your application, instead of just proceeding, choose "Properties" or "Preferences" in that window. This should open up another dialog window from which you can choose additional printing options. It may be under Advanced or Tray Select, etc.
You can also get to the printer dialog windows by clicking on the Start button, then Settings, then Printers and Faxes, then double-clicking on the printer icon in that window for your printer and proceeding from there.
1) When the printer receives a print job, it selects the tray by trying to match the requested paper type and size with what has been loaded in the trays. Using an “autoselect” process, it searches all available trays for the paper that satisfies the request, starting with the bottom tray and ending with the top tray (tray 1). The printer begins printing the job as soon as it finds the proper type/size.
2) If paper is loaded in tray 1 and tray 1 is set "TRAY 1 TYPE=ANY" and "TRAY 1 SIZE=ANY" on the Paper Handling menu, the printer will always pull paper from tray 1 first.
there are two places to set the paper tray on the ricoh aficio 2035 print drivers first make sure you are using the PCL 5 drivers not pcl6 or rpcs then go to the printers folder and set the defaults by right clicking the printer and selecting properties printing preferences, then go into word and select print set up and properties then defaults for printer select bypass tray and select labels enter the correct sheet size for the labels from the drop down box click apply and you should be set.

Hi there I've had a similar problem in windows instead of the mac, but it sounds like it's a similar problem where the computer's telling the printer to use a different sized paper to what the printer's been told is in the trays. For example, if, say, your document is set up for A4 sized paper, but the printer is set up to think it has Letter sized paper in the trays, it'll ask to have A4 sized paper installed in the tray instead.
Go into the system setup on the printer and select the paper setup menu.
Select Tray 1 and choose the right paper type and size from the settings (After you choose the paper type you have to go all the way back through the menus on the printer and choose the paper size as well)
