Power to house shut off, now the freezer wont turn on

The power to the house went off. got the generator started to take the load of my house. upon outside power comming back on and switching the power. I have noticed the freezer wont work. I made sure it wasnt the outlet and went from there. I dont see the power light on and i dont hear the compressor running? Any ideas would be great.

You probably have a defective thermostat or sensor for reading the temperature.

Try to plug somthing that you know it works ,in that outlet ,and if it doesn't work or goes on and off , the problem is in the outlet, but if works without trouble ,the problem could be in the freezer plug , the cord or the cord conections to the freezer.

SOURCE: freezer fan on compressor off

They make generic "compressor packs" to solve these. Your capacitors and relay and parts that support the compressor operation went out.

If you're really really like just the temp overload switch went and you can jumper bypass it. It usually looks like a piezo electric type of disc connected right onto the comp case itself.

But you're right with the DT, the motors go out on them a lot. They are usually for 4/6/10/12 hours depending on make and model. Sometimes the contacts go So if you could isolate them... they're on the larger side and will go from the power to the compressor. Use a jumper and test for a complete circuit to the plug and through the compressor before trying it.

By law all freezers and ovens have to have a schematic diagram on them. Often it it in a little plastic package and sometimes just wallpapered to the inside of a large piece of sheetmetal in back.

Good that you know how to use a meter!

Frigidaire upright freezer

If your freezer is a frost free, then it has probably stopped in a defrost cycle. The defrost timer is in the back lower left side of the unit, it has a little nub in the center on one side, if you can turn it clockwise and the unit comes on, you will need to replace the timer part #297318010

Looking for the start up surge for my kenmore freezer 253. I would like to purchase a generator and want to make sure this freezer would operate.

Hello,

At the peak power usage time..compressor start up it may reack 11 amps..when calulating that it is a max of 1300 watts..so a generator of 1500 or more should work fine
When running after start up is usually about 500 watts

Freezer runs continuosly, temp on control reading -8 degrees, unit never shuts off. also get alot of condensation on doors seems door heaters are not working.

Lets start with why it wont shut off. This seems most likey the thermostat. Turn down the t'stat to 1. if it doesnt shut the compressor off then recommend to replace t'stat. If you do defrost the whole freezer so that when you turn it back on it should take care of the condensation on doors

hope this was helpful

I have recently unplugged my upright to clean it out. Upon plugging it back in, I have noticed it will not work! It makes a small buzzing sound like it is starting then ''clicks' off ???

The clicking sound you hear is the protective overload mounted to the compressor, shutting the power off to the compressor because it will not start. Two possibilities.
1. One or more of the starting components has failed. The starting components are A. The start relay, B. The start/run capacitor(some models have them, some don't), C. The overload which is the device you hear clicking. You can pull these parts off the compressor and take them to an appliance parts house. They are usually happy to test them.
2. The compressor has failed internally and needs replaced.
3. Parts houses sell what are called "hard start kits" but that is an iffy proposition. Most appliance techs carry them for testing purposes to see if they can get a balky compressor to start, but are sold to the consumer with the understanding that it may or may not give the machine additional life.
NOTE: If this appliance is under 5 years of age, don't do anything, but call the selling dealer, because the compressor is still under warranty. You'll pay if start components need replaced but you will maintain the balance of your warranty.

Fridge freezer not working after power cut

If the fan motor is running at the compressor you should first replace the compressor start relay.
If the fan motor at the compressor is not running replace the defrost control.

Viking freezer and fridge power on but not getting cold.

Are you sure the compressors are running, it could just be that the fans are starting but the compressor does not start.

It sounds as though you may have fried the boards again.

Remove the top grille and reach in to the compressor, to see if it is running, you should be able to feel it vibrating, there should also be some heat to it, not neccessarily hot.

have you tried putting surge protectors on the outlets, to save the boards in the future?

Freezer will Not Go Below 8 degrees and Alarm keeps sounding

Our manual says it can take our freezer up to 48 hours to get back to the correct temperature. I found that to be the case when we loaded it fully for the first time.
