How do I repair A knob that is broken off at the stem of my ge profile flat top stove?

You cannot repair this switch, you will have to replace it.
You will need to remove the cook-top and remove the glass top to access the switches. There will be a series of screws around the underside of the lip of the glass top that attach it to the burner box. Remove all of the remaining knobs and lift the glass straight off the box.
I would get your model number and order the replacement switch before starting the process.
good luck!

GE EVOLUTION Glass top. The hot surface(Glass top)

Individual burners, located directly under the cooktop glass, contain a temp sensor which lights up the hot surface lamp when they sense a hot condition. If the light stays on after all burners are cool, one of the sensors has shorted out. The sensors are an integral part of the burner, so the offending burner must be replaced to solve your constant on hot light.

I have a GE profile Glass top M#JSP47COF4CC That is cracked but can't figure out haw to remove. Have already removed 4 screws under control panel still won't budge

To remove the top on this range, remove burner knobs and face plate, then remove 2 screws from control panel one at each end. Fold panel down out of the way, remove 5 screws accross front of control panel and release 2 quick connect plugs for burners, then lift to remove glass top. Flip over remove 2 screws and clips from each burner and the indicator light assembly just pops out. Transfer this to new top and reverse your steps for removal.

Kenmore glass top range left front large burner out

check the burner socket, it is likely that contact is being lost where the burner connects to the hardwired portion of the system (the socket). It is not unusual for the socket to "burn up" when there is a poor connection to the burner resulting in the burner being replaced and the new burner not working or working intermittently.

REPLACE CRACKED GLASS COOK TOP

First of all, if the cook-top broke as a result of a manufacturer defect, the repairs should be covered under the manufacturer's warranty. In this case, the repairs would be done at no cost to you. If, however, the glass top was broken as a result of the consumer, the repair will not be covered (even if it is still under warranty). If this is the case, it does not require an engineer to replace a glass cook-top. It can be time consuming, though. If you are somewhat savvy with fixing things, it can be accomplished by the average do-it-yourselfer. The following link explains how to replace most glass cooktops:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r391448-replacing_glass_cook_top

The tedious part of replacing the cook-top is carefully removing and handling each burner element. These are usually ceramic and are very fragile. You must be handled with care. If there is no common disconnect, you also will be required to unplug each burner assembly one at a time and label the wires. A digital camera can come in very handy for this as well. The easiest way to do this is to remove the old shattered cook-top, first and lay it side by side with the new one. Remove and install one burner element at a time.

If you wish to pursue this and require additional assistance, please let me know before you rate the solution. I hope this helps you.
