Second hand archos 605 already registered can I re register??
I bought an Archos 605 wifi second hand and therefore the item has already been registered and I do not appear to be able to register it to myself. Please help

Well, I mean this isn't legal but it isn't illegal so i'll tell you the best site for this. Go to Youtube.com typer in Archos 305 wifi product key then you should see a list of videos explaining what the key is. Look in the desktop copy and paste and there you go!
The TV Program Guide is actually controlled by a 3rd party.
I registered my Archos at Archos.com when I bought it......I'm not sure how you'd stand with a 2nd hand one.
Basically, the website tells me that I only have 82 days left to my TV Program Guide 'subscription' and if I want it for another year, I have to pay £14.90GBP!
However, I can tell you that the Program Guide is pretty rubbish. All it does is let you record the SAME channel that your TV is showing. It does not record a different channel if you want to watch something else and if the TV is switched off, it doesn't record at all!!
Reading the manuals and the reviews on the Archos website, I was led to believe that it would do all of the above, but when I tried to get help from Archos Support, they basically told me that it doesn't do any of that!!
As much as it p'd me off, that is the only flaw I have found in the Archos and the other things it can do are quite amazing.
Try searching for 'Archos Forum' and check out some of the features - it is a remarkable machine!
First off, I would recommend at least to get you going, that you NOT use the Archos to buy your plug-ins. Instead go to a desktop or laptop computer and buy your plug-ins using it. You will get the files you need by email. Once you copy them to the root of your Archos, the upgrade is painless. You likely will need the latest firmware before you upgrade so make sure you get that first.
I bought 4 Plug-ins for my Archos 605 WiFi TV+(Cinema+Podcast+Web)plugins for about $38.00 US on eBay. The deal was quick and cost much less than I would have paid to buy them directly from Archos. The seller I bought from claims to be an authorized reseller. I believe this is true because when I went to Archos, I found my player already registered. You may also find that you can get a similar bulk price for plug-ins for at the Archos Forum.
If you don't have another email you can use to try it(such as yahoo or gmail) or should no other emails work, you should call archos tech support line and they can get you registered over the phone...usually. 866-489-4718 (M-F, 11-7CST)

I'm having exactly the same problem, i.e. bought from Luzerntech and now can't get downloads because they won't recognise the serial number. There is no email at Archos to contact and I don't want to spend 25p a min to phone. I have contacted Luzerntech to see if they can help and will let you know if they answer. If you get any further please will you post the details? I will do the same. Good luck.
you should call their help desk. I had a problem registering because I bought mine at Sam's club and there was some glitch with it recogmizing the serial number or something. the tech support person can do it for you when you call. the number is available at archos.com. good luck!
I rang this number.0207 949 0115. I've the same problem and spoke to a guy who told me to send an email to [email protected]. Give them as many details about you and the machine as you can. I'm still waiting on an outcome but the guy assured me it would be dealt with.
I had the same problem as you, after hours of browsing the frustrating archos website i simply deleted all the products from my account and then re-registered them. Turned out I'd simply put the serial number of my 605 incorrectly. Once re-registered, the tv-guide came up on my archos link software and updated it. Don't be too pleased though, when I did this about 98% of the channels just had "no information available" displayed on them on my Archos. Can anyone solve that?
