Hello,
I bought an unlocked blackberry 7290 from EbaY. I figured out how to reset my password so getting into the phone is not a problem. However, I want to disable the password so I do not have to enter the password everytime I want to use the phone. I went to the "password keeper" but it only prmpts me to put in the "old password" and then the "new password". I went to "Options" and then "security" and it says the password is "enabled". When I use the trackwheel to change enabled to disabled the word "disabled" won't show. The only other options under Security are "Change password" "Wipe Handheld" "verify Security Sofware" and "call Voicemail". Can someone help?

hi! I have gotthe same problem with mine but to surround that problem you should have a program called "password keeper" on your pda that could help you to set off the pw! you should first set up that program from any especialised operator link or from RIM link! good luck!!

in password keeper or security you can turn off the password functions just by trackwheel options and then turn off the passwords for all applications

Did you ativated the phone through your provider yet? You might want to make sure that the networks you are using on your blackberry are compatible with your provider if it isn't AT&T your using.

Try going into the options menu, selecting the "media card" option and then going down to "encryption mode" and select NONE. Once this is changed, you should be able to turn off the protection. If you are on a BES there might be a IT security profile in effect - go to security settings and general to check for this.

Wipe Handheld will restore it to factory settings and should remove any passwords.
If this helps please vote for my solution.
