Need to disable password on blackberry 7290

Hello,
I bought an unlocked blackberry 7290 from EbaY. I figured out how to reset my password so getting into the phone is not a problem. However, I want to disable the password so I do not have to enter the password everytime I want to use the phone. I went to the "password keeper" but it only prmpts me to put in the "old password" and then the "new password". I went to "Options" and then "security" and it says the password is "enabled". When I use the trackwheel to change enabled to disabled the word "disabled" won't show. The only other options under Security are "Change password" "Wipe Handheld" "verify Security Sofware" and "call Voicemail". Can someone help?

SOURCE: Password Problem

hi! I have gotthe same problem with mine but to surround that problem you should have a program called "password keeper" on your pda that could help you to set off the pw! you should first set up that program from any especialised operator link or from RIM link! good luck!!

SOURCE: Password Problem

in password keeper or security you can turn off the password functions just by trackwheel options and then turn off the passwords for all applications

Did you ativated the phone through your provider yet? You might want to make sure that the networks you are using on your blackberry are compatible with your provider if it isn't AT&T your using.

SOURCE: I enabled my password on blackberry 8820 and

Try going into the options menu, selecting the "media card" option and then going down to "encryption mode" and select NONE. Once this is changed, you should be able to turn off the protection. If you are on a BES there might be a IT security profile in effect - go to security settings and general to check for this.

Wipe Handheld will restore it to factory settings and should remove any passwords.

Haven't used my rim in ages, so forgotten the passcode to get into the phone. Is there anyway of unlocking/reseting it at all?

Maybe you can unlock your phone using blackberry 7290 unlock code, that code can be obtained from network provider or buy from blackberry unlock code seller on internet. Other way, you can bring your cellphone to mobile repair shop to get hard unlocked using cable unlock.

Blackberry locked

Select "unlock" and type in the password. The device will allow you 10 trials and after that it will delete all old data and allow you to set your own password.

In case you do not want the password, go to options > security > password - press space bar to disable

Won't Unlock

Looks like you need to unlock blackberry 7290 network. You can do it only if you have a blackberry unlock code, with this code your phone network will be reset and will accept any sim card from any provider. This unlock code can be purchased easily at third party sites on internet.

Unlock BlackBerry 7290

Unfortunately, the unlock code for a BB 7290 is unique to each phone. The unlock code is based on the IMEI of your BB. After getting an unlock code then the steps to unlock are:
1. go to options

2 scroll to SIM CARD then press jog dial in once to select it

3. Type MEPD (not case sensitive) ( you will not see text appear on screen while typing )

4. Does it say Network active? if so your phone is locked

5. Press and hold the alt key (half moon looking key on the lower left side)

6. as you are holding the alt key type in MEPE (not case sensitive) ( you will not see text appear on screen while typing )

7. type in the unlock code when prompted

8. After entering the code press the jog dial in

9. Your phone is now unlocked!

Unlock my blackberry 7290

Like you being with T-mobile, I bought a cingular phone off ebay that wasn't unlock. My sims didn't work either. My network just said call Cingular which is now AT&T and they gave me the MEP code to unlock it. Beware, you need to confirm all of your information from your network before they will help you.
