I'm having problems with my projector. I changed the lamp about a month ago and reset the timer on it in the menu at that time. I have 96% life left in the current one (according to the menu).
What's been happening is that I turn on my projector and everything is fine but then suddenly the power shuts off. At the same time the Status Indicator light starts to flash red (the 6 cycle of 0.5 seconds on, 0.5 off). According to my manual this means it's a lamp error ("lamp fails to light. Wait a full minute and then turn on again"). Once the power is off (standby) the light continues to flash. If I turn on the power again after waiting a few minutes the flashing stops but then starts again as the projector turns itself on standby.
I do not have the auto power off turned on, or anything like that (I double checked quickly before it shut off again). I don't know what's going on, it worked fine all last night. I've never had this problem before, even when my last lamp died.
Nothing I've read online so far has been helpful but any suggestions would be nice.
I also tried holding down the HELP button for 10 seconds. It changed what happened in that the projector still turned off and then turned on again without the flashing light. However after having been on for a couple minutes the power light started to flash green again and then shut off, same as all the other times.I also tried holding down the HELP button for 10 seconds. If this is a NEC VT series projector, Change the lamp. When if it continues to blink amber and not project and image after installing a new lamp check the lamp cover to see if the micro switch tab on the lamp cover broke off. Some models have a built in lens cover. If the cover is not slid over to open completely the light may not turn on.
Every projector is designed to check the status of various sensors for lamp, fan, inside temperature etc. It seems that your projector lamp turns ON & then OFF. If the lamp turns ON then lamp is OK. Remove dust from the dust filters if they are blocked. There
are many fans to cool down the projector. Some are blower fans. Some are exhaust fans. You will
have to open the projector & check which one of them is not
functioning. Replace the one which is not functioning. It is also likely
that there may be some failure of components.

Hello, unfortunately the NEC MT1060 - MT1070 series projectors have EEPROM chips built into the lamp housing which counts the hours that the lamp has been used for so the only way to reset the hours is to change the lamp for a new one, i have not yet found a way to reset the chips even by reprogramming them, i'm afraid the only solution is to replace the lamp with an official NEC unit, but this was obviously their intention.
