Repeated coffee drinking in fine bone china can cause staining that doesn't come out with the regular gentle washing. To get these stains out you need to mix baking soda with some water until you create a paste. Spread the paste onto the cups until the stains have disappeared. Then rinse them out with soap and water.

How do you keep, coffee hot, in a bone china coffee pot! Can it be put on a hot plate? Thanks

No, you should not put good bone china on a hotplate. It is actually not a good conductor of heat, and so will get locally too hot and crack.

The accepted wisdom is to preheat the whole pot by first putting in a small amount of very hot water and promptly swirling it around and up to heat the whole pot.

You can also buy what is known as a cosy

which is kept on the pot to insulate it. They can be had in many designs and do not have to look absurd.

It needs a keepwarm element. Go to repairshack.com for the part. Tell them USA pot or China Pot. Good luck. Ron

How do you remove stains from bone china?

You have to be really careful when you clean your bone china. I have a teapot and teacup set that's really delicate and stains really easily. I wash the china in warm water with a mild dish detergent. I was told never to use scouring pads or any other abrasives like that. You can actually use nail polish remover on really hard stains but apply it with a cotton bud and make sure you rinse it off really well with soap afterwards.

Cleaning the staining & coffee from a one-year old 4 cup coffee pot.

You can try salt and ice. Try pouring about a tablespoon of salt into the pot and a couple ice cubes. Hold the pot by the handle and swirl it around in a counter clockwise direction allowing the ice to move around the inside of the pot. Don't do it too fast, you could break the pot.

Pot is stained on the inside

Hi Staffordai:
I have had great sucess with professional engine degreaser for removing coffee stains from glass and plastic.
If you have water salt staining (white crust) then try acids that work on your shower head such as CLR.
Remember to flush 10 times more than you think is reasonable.
Good luck,
Bob

The water isn't fully coming out when brewing a cup of coffee and won't fill the cup. I am maybe getting 1/4 cup of coffee

Hello,

what you will have to do to solve this problem is that you will have to do self cleaning on the coffee maker

however, (not the bathroom one) is a handy item to use to clean coffee residue off the inside of a glass coffee carafe.
  • Does your pot have hard to reach areas? Use a wooden chopstick with a paper towel to get in there.
  • You can put ice cubes and a little water(enough so you can swirl it around) in pot and swirl them around, for harder stains put some table salt in pot and swirl it around for a few minutes and then rinse.
  • Put a glass marble in the water chamber to attract mineral deposits from hard water. Wash it once a week.
  • For tough stains, scrub the pot using a paper towel or clean (not soapy) dish towel. Rinse thoroughly.
  • To clean just the pot, do what many restaurants do. Put about two cups of ice, 1/4 cup of rock or table salt, and 1/4 cup of lemon juice (bottled or fresh is fine) and swirl around the pot. Measurements are not that important, just guesstimate. Be sure that the pot is cold before you try this, or you may break the glass pot.
  • Clean a brand new coffee pot prior to using it for the first time.
  • Never use the coffee pot to pour water into the reservoir. This will transfer oils and impurities from the pot, and eventually give the coffee a nasty taste. Instead, use a pitcher that is reserved for water only.
  • To keep the inside area around basket, filter, lid area clean (from coffee ground spatter) simply place a SECOND filter over the top of the grounds in the FIRST filter. Push second filter down so that spout will clear top of second filter (on many makes of coffee makers) as lid is closed. This keeps interior in pristine condition and doesn't take much time or expense.
Thanks for visiting our site good luck.

Hi, You have a pot that was made in China. to fix the problem you have you have to replace the base. You can try to get one at Goodmens.com or Repair Shop.com. The China pot is very very inferior to the USA pots. I suggest buying a USA pot on eBay. The China pot is like owning a boat. Good luck . Ron
