I have Plasma Tv. My screen is split. One half shows the picture, the other half shows one green band. What could be the problem. I opened the TV , but nothing looks short. I am knowledgable to certain extent on chnaging boards. Any help would be apprecated? Could it be mother board or the screen drivers. The screen is split vertically. So left side is blank and right side has picture.
If you are familiar with using a DMM, the simplest way is to test each of the fuses mounted on each of the internal boards, which means that you will have to remove the back of the TV panel. Each fuse should not test open. If it does, you probably have a failed component/circuit on the board that the fuse is mounted on. UNPLUG THE TV BEFORE REMOVING THE BACK PANEL. Do not plug the TV in while you are testing the fuses. There are some seriously high voltages in the TV, plus there may be residual voltage from the large power electrolytic capacitors, so try not to touch anything and if you do, use just one hand with the other not touching anything.
First you have to check if voltage and data are ok at the Y sustain board and the Y driver boards are not running hot. Even if you know how to replace these panels you must have a scope to adjust the v-set up and v- down. Not just a simple PNP. Trouble shooting a plasma is not a short time process to do it correctly. Please let a service center look at it for you.
