Crosley CR2406A will not record CDs properly.

My Crosley CR2406A will not record CDs properly. The unit starts to record albums but after a few minutes I get a "Failed" warning on the screen. It is yet to record one CD. I have returned the unit and got a new one, same problem. Any ideas on what is wrong ?

Mine does pretty much same thing. It has gone as far as recording trk 1, or one whole side of a record, but the 2nd side for trk 2 the 'recording/cd' switches to 'phono', quitting recording at some point before the end of the record. Can't ever start it back up on the same cd. Making lots of coasters. Never a complete cd either. Usually quits 7 or 8 seconds in to new trk any new time I hit 'record'. Crosley CR2406A.

I have the same problem after successfully burning 2 CDs, I started getting a "Failed" message and the display switched from showing the track & time to "Phono".

I had this problem when recording CD-Rs. I switched to CD-RWs and didn't have the problem again.

The gears usually dry up or get stuck with hair. You need to open the panel and re-grease it.

Where is a Crosley repair facility?

If you registered the product with Crosley you can contact them.
Otherwise it seems you have to contact the distributer of the product for the nearest service center.

New Records sound is bad

Very strange! Apart from the fact that new albums could be faulty which seems unlikely, the only thing I can suggest is that they could be building up static. So I should look into ways of getting shut of that. If not you could adjust the weight on the arm, to see if that cures the problem.

I can not get my Crosley CR248 Songwriter to Finalize when I try to transfer from cassette to cd. It keeps showing me FAIL....

I don't know this particular machine but here are some general comments.
Most CD recorders need you to press (and sometimes hold) the record button followed by the play button before tehy actually record anything (if you don't press the play button you will still hear sound via headphones etc. but no recording file will be created)
Does it record from vinyl records okay or is it just cassettes?
Are you using the correct sort of CD?
We use a Denon CD recorder and it only works with AUDIO CDs - computer data CDs or CDRWs will not work in it. Even if the Crossley will accept computer CDs it may require a particular format either +ve or -ve (labelled CDR+ or CDR-) to be compatible. Once you have tried finalising a disk and it has failed you cannot use the same disk again.

My crosley CR2406A unit has very low audio output even at max volume.

HELLO,
PLEASE REMOVE AND RE?NSTALL THE STYLUS,IT SHOULD BE OKAY..
ONE REMINDER.CASSETTE AND TURNTABLE ON THE SAME PATH.
.THEREFORE CASSETTE SHOULD BE AT STOP POSITION WHEN YOU PLAY THE TURNTABLE.
JUST IN CASE,HERE IS THE LINK FOR USER MANUAL..

Set the function to "phono" and record it the same way you would an album.

Can i get the power out put of the transformer for a cr2406a

If you need for to replace the transformer, because it has failed, and looking for a replacement, then you need not bother. The reason for this is that makers consider power transformers as safety parts and should be replaced with the same part. Or least one approved by Crosley.

MP3 files start skipping/popping after few minutes of playback

Sony say in the manual that if you record high bit-rate mp3's the sound may be intermittent. I feel this is due to the decoder having to move ALOT of bits around to play, try some makeing a disk with mixed rate mp3's on. e.g.) some 64Kbps, some 128, some 192, and some as high as you can get and see if there is any differ Luck
