Ram problem i got a Compaq evo d510 mini tower and i got to DDR RAMs and when i put both of them in and start up the computer it make a long Beep then two short one i switched it off then take out 1 of the ram then i start it back up then it start up and it load the amount of ram i got then the screen goes black and white with lot of lines in it. does anybody knows the problem?

Observe the blue long female connector on the motherboard. This connector is where the 40-pin flat IDE ribbon cable for the Harddrive, plugs in.

here is what you should have. you cant mix mem types. you are suppose to have what is listed below. maximum amount is 2 gig. have to be pc2100 which is ddr-266

Upgrading the windows version and adding ram and better video card may be a good solution. It couldn' hurt at least.
Try it and see if you can play you games.
Games are the most resourse hungry application that you can put your computer through. The ram size and video card memory size are critical for acceptable preformance.

well i think you should try Nvidia and ATI compatibility tests at their site

no problem, either you can call Compaq customer care and you can place order for any part, or you can buy the mini smps manufactured by iBall, and zebronics.

two things might be responsible:check the Ram i mean the computer memory if its good or the opearting system might be corrupt. u can try to format the system and load again

the RAM may be corrupted or not properly installed into the slot. also check if the processor fan is working properly.

well, the lowest speed of those rams will be effective for all rams. If you install same sized ram on 1st and the 3rd port, it should be run on dual channel mode and will be fastest possible. please try this if you have 4 ports.
