SOURCE: I was told press F2 simultaneously on startup, nothing happened

You need not to press F2 or tab or escape unless you need to do so. If your system is ok, it'll automatically boot up, but if there's boot up problem with your system, then that's different. Thanks for using FixYa.

SOURCE: eee pc 1005ha bios setup won't start, it just hangs while entering, just after detecting the hard drive.

Maybe you are not giving it enough time to get into the setup.

Let it sit for a while and see what happens.

Function keys

Enter BIOS by pressing F2 or DEL or F10 (try all), and see if there is a Function key option. Change it, save and exit. If everything else is working fine, you can also try to push and hold Fn key and then press a function key.

On toshiba laptops you use the F10 key to get into your BIOS SETUP. The generally combinations of BIOS Setup is:

1) DEL (delete key)

2) F2 (F2 Key)

3) F10 (F10 Key)

4) Ctrl + F10 key

Linux mint 12 won't boot from CD

Restart your computer, press repetedly a key to enter BIOS, normally Del, go to Advanced BIOS Features probably and change to boot primarly from CD/DVD (1st Boot Device CD/DVD , or something like that), save and exit BIOS, and restart your computer with Linux Mint CD inside. Be aware that if you make wrong changes in BIOS, you could damage your computer.

What's your problem I NEED MY BIOS PASSWARD

To reset the Toshiba BIOS password, use software

ACPI Flash BIOS version 2.30 for Satellite L655
(support for model L655-S5101, etc)

Important
1. This release offers the option to install the BIOS directly from within Windows operating systems. To do so, simply select the 'Windows Installation' option from the Launcher menu, and click 'Ok'.
2. Please close all programs before executing the Windows-based installer.
3. It is REQUIRED that the computer be connected to AC power via the AC adapter, and that the power-save mode is set to 'Full Power' or the equivalent while installing the BIOS.

How to use:
1. Download ACPI Flash BIOS
2. Double-click the file sk2cv230.exe - select install

3. After the install is complete, the image will appear as below. Highly recommended you read the instructions first, or you can select Install from Windows.

4. Click OK. Do you want to upgrade the BIOS - Yes

5. After the update completes, the computer will automatically shut down or restart. Power on the computer if it is off. While the "Toshiba" LOGO is displayed, press the F2 function key to start BIOS Setup. Check the version of BIOS and press the F9 function key then Enter to load setup defaults. Press the F10 function key then Enter to save settings and exit. The computer will automatically reboot.

Resource Conflict - PCI on Motherboard Bus:0A, Device:09, Function:00 = CARDREADER PROBLEM

I did try all that, and it didnt work, on a 5050 acer built on a 3100 gabinet.

I think that the problem is that the cardreader chip is not well glued to the motherboard, that's why it gives you that error. If you try pressing certain points of the computer while booting, it miraculously stops giving that conflict error.

We should be payed back by Acer, as this is an project issue =P

Can't enter BIOS setup with F2

Try using another application that has a use for the F2 key. I'm not totally convinced that your keyboard is good. It is possible for just one key to fail. Happens quite often.
