Hi!

It is possible that the wifi networking where you connect in the Hotel use the same name of you home wifi network!

Try deleting your wifi profiles and reconnect again.

If you don't know how to delete the wifi profiles let me know and I tell you.

Thanks!

I want to use my d-link router with my new acer laptop but cant connect to the router. Windows says it is a router connection problem. It can locate the router just wont allow me to connect.

1.In Control Panel, click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Network Connections.

2.Right-click the Wireless Network Connection, and then click Properties.

3.On the Wireless Networks tab click Add.

4.In the Wireless network properties dialog box, enter the SSID "(Name of the connection) ex. dlink1234" you configured for your wireless gateway

5.Fill in the rest of the fields, including the necessary authentication and encryption information based on the configuration of your wireless gateway. (WPA-TSK, WPA2-TSK, WPA-AES and WPA2-AES)

6.Click OK and your home network will be added to the list of preferred networks.

if you have a firewall in your laptop try to disable it. example Eset Security antivirus Firewall. Disable the Firewall.

Wireless in Mexico

Wireless connectivity is the same everywhere in the world. The biggest problem you are likely to run into in Mexico is finding a wireless signal to connect to. The better hotels should have internet connections, but Mexico is not "wired" like the USA is.

Your laptop should be able to connect to any unsecured wireless signal anywhere. I suggest you try taking it with you next time you go downtown in your area, and experiment with finding wireless signals. College campuses are a great place to find wireless, as well as having lots of students who are used to connecting to wireless all over town, who might be willing to help you connect.

The icon you need to use to find a wireless signal can be found in the little bar next to your digital clock, in the lower right corner of your screen.

My laptop will connect with the internet though a home router. At a hotel or airport it will not connect with the internet service provided by these places. What is wrong

More information needed:
Does your laptop have a wireless adapter?
How do you connect at home? (wireles or ethernet cable?)
What brand of laptop do you have?
What troubleshooting steps have you already taken?

For your information, when away from your home network, you must change your wireless settings to point to the hotel or airport provider where you are trying to connect.

Usually hotels have some contact information and some basic support (some better than others) for their wireless connections.
