It sounds that the standby light blinks, and the set do not turn on. These blinks are fault indications. Fromm these number of blinks, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit part inside. Count these blinks. How many occurs at one time switch ON. Count it for at least to times switch on. If you wish to get more details about the blinking codes to Sony TVs, check this site.

Sony kv-27v40 standby/timer blinks 5 times

Five blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly.

T.V will not come on (dead)

Have got this problem so have just contacted a repair shop who say this is a known problem wtihin this type of tv. Basically wear and tear to some parts. In my case it is becuase the power cut out to my home whilst the tv was in standby. Needs to be professionally repaired.

Everytime i turn my computer on my monitor just says going to sleep and the green light near the power button turns orange and the screen goes blank!!!

It turns yellow becuase the PC stops sending out the signals to the monitor. You should check out your PC with another PC, it can be the setup (standby setting timer), video card hardware/drivers, etc.

My flat screen tv wont turn on...what does that mean?

If you still get any indicator lights at all, then the 5v standby circuit is still working but the main power supply may be bad or it is not getting the turn on signal from the main board becuase the main board is faulty.

clean all the dust out of your tv with vaccum, make sure you get all the fans and vents. do not use and kind of air/spray, becuase you could blow dust into the light engine and have spots on your picture.
