ViewSonic LCD (VA1912w) Went Blank

Hello,

This is a common issue with the VA1912 units. The black screen is caused by a failure of the filter capacitors on the power supply board. You can replace the capacitors and the monitor will be as good as new. Here is a link to some information on the capacitors needed to build the power supply board.

ViewSonic LCD (VA1912w) Went Blank

I am using this great LCD for about an year. But few times in the past my LCD didnt show up the display though the Green light was still ON, turning off the LCD and opening it again always solved the problem. But now My LCD completely went blank. Turning off/on didnt work at all now. I've tried couple of other tweaks mentioned on this site but they didnt work. I am just seeing a blank screen with green light ON. and ya theres a very low hissing sound coming from the LCD.

Viewsonic is known for having lines on their monitors. I used to see their display models do this at the now defunct CompUSA in the 1990s.

I would check the above site to see if your monitor is still under warranty.
If not, then I think it's not economical to try to fix it and replacement is indicated.

In fact, I searched va1912w on the website at Viewsonic.com and came up with 'sorry, no pages match your search'

This tells me that it may not be a current product.

If it isn't current, it's likely it is not under warranty.

So, I would again say, buy a new monitor to replace this one. I don't think it's fixable economically.

you can call ViewSonic Customer Support: 800-688-6688 in the U.S. and 866-463-4775 in Canada, give them your product serial no and they would be able to give you the status on your product warranty.

In case you want to avail the warranty service they would also give you a RMA (Return Material Authorization number) number.

As mentioned on ViewSonic website "ViewSonic LCD computer display products carry a three (3) year limited warranty for parts, labor and LCD backlight. Optiquest products carry a limited warranty of one (1) year for parts, labor and backlight. In order to receive warranty service, proof of purchase of the ViewSonic product is required."

this might be the problem of backlight which is used to give away light for viewing of color watch carefully u might see the picture without color if it is though then change the backlight byy contacting ur nearest service center

Common failures in this monitor is the 470uF caps in the inverter section (close to the inverter transformers), but you should replace all the caps in the 5vdc and the 12vdc as a whole set. See example of failed VIEWSONIC monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

I think the problem is with the capacitor....you need to change the capacitor...

try check your screen saver setting, it might be the time of screen saver to appear when PC not used, screen saver might be in blank.cheers.

I had that problem last mounth. If your warranty didn't run out give your lcd to the service. They changed power card of my lcd and then problem dissappeared. Checek your home voltage. They told me that high voltage could cause this problem.

Now fixing without repair:
open the main menu and increase brightness to %100. This is only the one way to lose backround wawe. The sound is so crazy but it only work when the brightness level at the top.

when u start sys press F8 KEY then go to safe mode and change resolution settings to 1024x768 or more
thern restart .
