Wasabi is delicious, yet oy u have to like hot spice! It is very hot and very flavorful. Try it sometime. Just a touch to start. Then add it to anything you would like. It is Japanese in origin. I add it to many types of dishes, from around the world. It is even good to add a little bit to soups to get a more well-rounded, hot, spicy flavor. Happy cooking
A small bowl the size of a small ramekin is served with sushi. The purpose of this bowl is to hold soy suace that sushi is dipped into. Traditionally, diners get wasabi to add it to the soy sauce. Take a small amout of wasabi, put it to the soy sauce, and mix thoroughly using chopsticks.
Wasabi is a condiment that is in the horseradish and
mustard family. It comes from a plant that grows in the river valleys in japan.
It's very strong and hot and can be felt in the nasal passages. It's really tasty with sushi but try it in small
amounts until you are sure how well you tolerate it.
Making your
own sushi from scratch is not a very practical option as it comes from a
Japanese plant and that will be hard to source fresh. But you don't have to buy
sushi ready made in tubes. You can buy the root in a powder form and mix up
when you are ready to eat your sushi as they say it loses its flavor in about
15 minutes. So making your own from the powder is a great way to preserve the
flavor.
