I had the same issue with the fan and searching for years I never came across another switch like it. Then I finally ordered double pole double throw rocker switch from Galco part 54-052-NTE. It is a much bigger switch, but I just hogged out the metal in the cover with a dremel and a bit that looks like a milling bit. After the hole was made large enough, I installed the switch and put back the bracket that holds the cover in place with the 2 push down tabs. I re-installed the switch but first the 2 spade connectors for the brown and white wires had to be replaced to the larger ones so that they would attach to the new switch. Now everything is operational again. You need the double pole double throw switch to isolate the 2 circuits. A SPDT won't work.

Good luck.

The original fan switch for the SEG196 (circa 1995) is a four terminal switch- two for the fan and two for the light . Note that the switch spade lugs for the red and blue wires (which when connected activate the fan) are larger than those for the white and brown wires (which when connected activate the oven light). This design presumably prevented miswiring of the switch at original assembly. Since the four terminal switch is nearly impossible to find (it was discontinued several years ago), an inexpensive fix is to replace the four wire switch with a two wire SPST toggle switch. However, this means that either the fan function or the light function can be preserved- not both. I elected to keep the fan function, and simply wired the red & blue wires to the two terminals of a heavy duty replacement SPST toggle switch. Be sure to fully insulate the remaining (in this case) white and brown wires with electrical tape or wire nuts before tucking them below the new switch. Total cost: $6.00 for switch. NOTE: TURN OFF POWER TO RANGE AT ELECTRICAL PANEL BEFORE ATTEMPTING REPAIR! fan/stove light switch broke needs replacing - beec3807-1ba5-40e7-a010-7e26d5fca5c0.jpg

SOURCE: Jennair cook top

Replacing this top is not too difficult. It is secured by four screws on each side. You might have to remove some of the flanging in the back to pull it off. Make sure to unplug the the unit. I would think that the top might be pricy, but if you take your time replacing it should be no problem.

Jenn Air stove wired backwards

The fan is likely 120-volt fan, and swapping the wire likely put 220 across the fan. Did the fan seem to rev up very fast? The control is also likely 120-volt, and that too had 220 applied to it.

Give me the model number, and I'll find what parts you need to replace

Jenn-Air Cooktop replacement needed

You can get a new cooktop surface from Maytag/Jennair for $229. It is a pain however to replace it. Where is the crack in your cooktop and does that crack pass directly through a heating element? If not, then you may be able to repair it. I broke the corner off mine, and then dropped the piece (now 5 pieces). I was able to bond them back together and you really can't tell it was ever broken. But, it takes some work.

Stove not on - but fan comes on automatically -

it sounds as if the thermostat is broke. it could be the two wires off the thermostat are after melting together. ( burning smell). the thermostat stops power going to fan when it sences below a certain degrees. but your one has been cut out of the circuit due to the two cables melting together. this means fan will constantly stay on. you need to find and replace thermostat and make sure no cables melted together. if they are then seperate and use insulating tape to re insulate.make sure circuit breaker is off while doind this
