The remote control will no longer work even when I put new batter

I have a 19'' tv and the remote control has stopped working. I have the same tv in another room and can use that remote for the other tv so I know it is not the tv. from looking at the remote, it seems to be a universal type. If you go to the above website and find the code for your TV, it may work once you put the code back in. This is quite common for this type of remote. I had to input my code a couple times a year fom the wife pushing the wrong button. Just look on the site for the code for your set and try it. Then you will know if it needs to be repaired or replaced, good luck

Hi, this is a problem with a solder break. Im sure the break is isolated around the actual sensor located on the front side of this remote. you will need to disassemble this device and remove the board gently. after the removal of the board, kindly inspect the whole board. check for looseness in the sensor assemble. it will look like a small led light(very small). this will be your trouble spot. also, check the contact point area on the battery side of this board as well. you may have a lose fit here rendering the batteries inoperable.

Hi there! thanks for using fixya.com!

If you have changed the batteries already. Please try to use any universal remote control if its working on that tv.

I suggest, get a new universal remote control and use it to your 2nd tv. and the original remote control that works on your 1st tv, let it be the remote.

but, if you can have your technician to check on it just to make sure that you don't have a problem with your tv.

Regards! Cheers!

Hi!

I think there is some obstruction on the IR Signal catching sensor of your tv and needs to be checked out. Its on the front lower panel of the tv. It catches the signal from the remote.

Check for any thing kept in front of the lower panel.

If no obstruction is there then you need to get that sensor replaced by a tech.

Thanks
Rylee

The remote is a no serviceable part, that means that must not be repaired, and that schematics are not provided.

All you can do is spotting at a glance if you see a bad component or a bad solder joint.

The best solution is buying a replacement.

You can buy it on the links below:

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Three possible repairs:

  • it may be necessary to clean/scrape the battery terminals of the remote. The idea is to expose fresh metals. In some instances, it may even be necessary to bend/stretch these terminals so that they offer more pressure in contact with the batteries;
  • a common fault in remotes is a loose/detached crystal. This requires opening the remote and locating the crystal and soldering it back into position. In the example remote board image, it would be the blue component normally marked as X1;The remote control will no longer work even when I - 50667c6.jpg
  • the IR diode has burned out. This would be the part that transmit the remote signals to the TV. A continuity tester (DVM/VOM) would be needed to check for forward/reverse. If replacing, pls be reminded that it has a The remote control will no longer work even when I - c6cd380.jpgmg src="/uploads/images/c6cd380.jpg" alt="c6cd380.jpg" class="h_mi" />
Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

Is this a universal remote? Make sure the remote has the universal capability. It might be just a dedicated remote to your other TV that's why is only works on one TV. Better give it a try again to another TV to check if it's universal or not.

My remote control no longer works, even with new

First, test that the remote is actually working. The easiest way to do this is to point it at a switched on digital camera and look at the camera display. The remote uses infra red light which the human eye cannot see, but digital cameras can. As you press a button on the remote, you should see a glow coming from the remote in the camera display.

If it is working, it is probably a fault in your TV - not a DIY fix so take it to a repair shop.

If it isnt working, you'll need a new remote. A genuine Panasonic replacement will be expensive so you may opt for a universal one. However, universal remotes wont support all the functions the genuine one does.

Your choice !

The remote control will no longer work even when I put new batter

Sometimes the IR receiver bug in the tv goes out.

To clarify. The remote RM1 for TV 1 will not work on TV1, but the remote RM1 works on TV2.

If this is the case, answer is above.
