I turn on my Technics SA-DX950 receiver and the sound is fine for several minutes. Then the volume on the speakers will go way up and the sound will be very distorted. It the receiver is shut off then turned back on the problem usualy goes away. I have tried a second set of speakers and continue to have the same problem.
There are poor solder connections at the output amp pacs and the voltage regulators. Once these are resoldered the problem should go away. If you can solder, resolder any connections that appear grainy or have rings. If you can not, this should be effectively a labor only repair for any shop that works on audio gear.
