Purple and yellow colors on camera screen

There has been a little problem with my camera. It's definitely an Olympus but my only problem is is that the screen turns to colors yellow and purple when being used for the video taking for my project the screen is blurry and is colored with purple and yellow showings along with some unclear footage. I'm not so sure but it only comes back to normal when the camera is fully recharged it only works when the camera is still at top but when the rechargeable battery hits to medium it starts to show what I had just described please help me!

SOURCE: camera batteries drain quickly

Open the battery door and check the contact between the camera and the batteries. Most often then not there is just a bad contact and it's ruinning your baterry life.
Make sure that the contact are well placed and that there is no rust or dirt build up around there.

SOURCE: Olympus Stylus 730 Digital - Won't work 60 days old

I'm having the exact same problem. I was in the middle of zooming on a shot and it froze, so I turned the camera off and on, and now I get the 5-chimes+Zoom Error screen. This is nuts, I've only had the thing for six months, and it was $250 (got the Stylus 730). I *think* I got a replacement plan so that's good. But still... I hope circuit city lets me get a different brand b/c I'm not happy with this now. The only problem I had before was the HORRID shutter delay. I want a model that doesn't have that problem .

Have you double checked the battery polarities are the right way round?

Sorry if this is a bit basic but its easier to check the simple things first.

My Olympus x-42 doesn't take a picture. View from monitor is perfect but when I take a picture, all there is is a white screen

Some symptoms of a defective CCD (Charge Coupled Device) include distorted images or abnormal colors, scratchy purple lines, blank or black pictures, and/or black videos with good sound being recorded on the camera's flash card.

When a picture is taken, the CCD is struck by light coming through the camera's lens. Each of the thousands or millions of tiny pixels that make up the CCD convert this light into electrons. The number of electrons, usually described as the pixel's accumulated charge, is measured, then converted to a digital value.

Colors on the display screen and on the prints are not sharp and with faded purple and white

Hi there:
A CCD problem would explain the lines on your pictures and the lines on the LCD (since the CCD is used to feed the live image). CCD (Charge Coupled Device) is one of the two main types of image sensors used in digital cameras.

When a picture is taken, the CCD is struck by light coming through the camera's lens. Each of the thousands or millions of tiny pixels that make up the CCD convert this light into electrons. The number of electrons, usually described as the pixel's accumulated charge, is measured, then converted to a digital value. This last step occurs outside the CCD, in a camera component called an analog-to-digital converter.

Some symptoms of a defective CCD include distorted images or abnormal colors, scratchy purple lines, blank or black pictures, and/or black videos with good sound being recorded on the camera's flash card.

In order to correct this issue, the repair facility needs to replace the CCD. This is not something you may do on your own; check this article for additional details:Bad CCDs. This, isn't a good new, but hope helps to solve it.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

My screen stays black, even though I can see old pictures, can record video (only the audio works) and upload my photos.

Could be a problem with the LCD screen viewer or CCD Image sensor go to bad. In both cases this isn't a job that you could solve yourself; this wrong include distorted images or abnormal colors, scratchy purple lines, blank or black pictures, and/or black videos with good sound being recorded on the camera's flash card.

I suggest check THIS LINK for additional details in this previous solutions for an Defective CCD (Charge Coupled Device) and next contact your Olympus service. I strongly suggest (taking into consideration the age of your camera) to evaluate the cost of repair versus the cost of a new camera with similar features, before making a final desicion.

Good luck.

White balance problem

My experience is that in geneeral terms white balance of the C765 is almost perfect. The earlier C740 did have a purple color in the white areas. The pictures need most a light push on trigger to first set up all correct. If you do so it should be nice colored. Olympus own xD card is required to make panorama pictures. Several pictures can then be set together within the PC software Cameras
