SOURCE: Imac question

Try turning it on with the shift key down. This gives a safe boot. If it's going to turn on at all, it will turn on then. Also, boot it with Disc Warrior or Tech Tools and run some tests to see what is going on. I hope you find all is well, and that the repairs are just minor. Good luck.

SOURCE: iMac keyboard volume control keys

Do the volume keys still work when you are booted in to OS X?
Also, try reinstalling the Bootcamp drivers that will appear when you insert an OS X disk when it's booted in to Windows.

SOURCE: iMac G4 Mac Desktop: i have a IMac G4 that when i start it a folder wit...

It can not find the hard drive or the startup folder on the hard drive. Try and fix that by putting in the original boot cd/dvd and repair and choose your hard drive start up folde as boot device. If you can not your hard drive may have died.

SOURCE: iMac G4 Mac Desktop: imac g4 wont boot up scree's just blue?...

If it only boots to a blue screen, try booting up in Safe Boot mode:

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1455

If this does not work, boot from your install DVD and use Disk Utility to repair the disk:

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2956

If this does not resolve the issue you may need to use your isntall disc to perform an Archive and Install:

Hy i install window 7 in imac desktop after installing black screen apper keyboard blinking 3or 4 minits not working even when cd is booting when it say"press any key to boot cd' wirless keyboard is...

Hi, by reading your question I am not sure if you are saying that when you load up Windows 7, nothing shows but a black screen or if your keyboard is not working. Well anyway I am going to try and help with both.
If you are getting a black screen when loading up, this is probably because your computer does not support Windows 7. In order to use Bootcamp and install Windows 7 you must be on Mac 10.6 and up or Snow Leopard. That is the only OS that supports Windows 7 and if you do have Mac 10.6 but you still have the black screen it is probably because the actual computer can't handle it or the drivers in the computer might not support it. I would say anything before 2005 will not be able to load Windows 7, but I am just taking a guess. For my second solution dealing with your wireless keyboard, when you installed Windows 7, no drivers were installed because Windows does not support them yet. This is why your keyboard was blinking, it was looking for a connection because it was not connected to anything. When installing Windows 7 you will need a wired mouse and keyboard because your Apple Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard is not yet pared with the computer. In order to install the drivers to make your keyboard work you need to load up Windows 7 by holding down the "option" key when turning on the iMac. Then once you select Windows 7, and it loads up to the desktop you need to insert your Mac reinstall CDs, then follow the on screen steps to install the drivers. From there you should be able to go into the control panel and add a wireless keyboard under the devices panel.
I hope this helps, Justin

APPLE IMAC G4 - TRYING TO INSTALL OS WITHOUT DISK EJECT BUTTON

Reastart the iMac and at the same time hold down the mouse left click button. If that does not work.
  1. Restart the computer.
  2. Immediately after the startup sound, press and hold the key combination Command-Option-O-F.
Note: The Command key has the Apple and (commandkeysymbol.gif) icons on it.
  3. Release the keys when you see a white screen that says "Welcome to Open Firmware."
  4. At the prompt, type: eject cd
  5. Press Return, then wait a few seconds. The disc drive should eject any disc that is present, and "ok" appears behind your command when the action is complete.
  6. Type: mac-boot
  7. Press Return.

When my imac g4 tries to bootup it shows a folder icon

It sounds like the system is corrupted. What I would do is to get your instal disk and boot up holding down the c key on your keyboard. Once you have booted up go to the file menu and run disk utility to verify and repair the hard drive. Then go to the instal menu and instal a fresh system remembering to preserve the users data so you do not wipe anything. Hopefully this will work.
