Your monitor should have 2x HDMI and a VGA port and MacPro has Thunderbolt or a Mini Display Port. There is no direct way to connect your macbook to your current monitor. You'll need a Mini Display to VGA adapter. You can find this on ebay. Hope it helps.
This happened to me as well. I just ended up going through my insurance coverage from Best Buy to get the phone replaced.
You can buy the port on eBay as a replacement part. If you are looking to replace it yourself there is a great youtube video that shows how to tear down the thunderbolt: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3rjgVsSWxQ
Hi Kevan. What video connector is on your macbook Air? There is the Micro-DVI version OR the new ThunderBolt version. The Thunderbird version is squarer (looks a little like the USB socket on a printer) and has a little lightning flash (Thunderbolt) by its top left corner. If you have the first one, you need this connector Apple Micro-DVI to VGA Adapter and a normal VGA cable (included oin the Philips box). If you have a Thunderbolt connector then it would appear that you are stumped. This makes no sense as Apple sell this, projector in their stores - and it won't connect to any computer they currently sell (except the iPad).
