Kenmore top loader 25811 Drum is off balance

They do wobble until the spin sorts them out. Half fill the drum with small light items like socks, underwear and tee-shirts and run a cycle. It you put a number of large items, they are often hard to balance out.

There is a little device inside the washer that allows the agitator to spin independent of the drum. If this gets stuck, the washer will try to spin the whole drum instead of just the agitator. This will cause the washer to think the load is too large or out of balance, causing the error code. On some Whirlpools this device is just a washer.

sometimes the agitator gets loose, causing the drum to sway to far all over the place.make sure its tight , remove the softener dispenser (manual nut), then tighten the metal nut that holds the agitator down

I had a Fridadaire model and had the same problem. It could be 3 things. 1- the weight came loose that balances the drum. 2- the bracket that is attached to the drum could have cracked. 3. the bearings to the drum have worn out. All of these problems involve taking the washer completely apart. This is big process, but if you have time and patience it worth it.
Is this model belt driven?

check the drain pump in the bottom of the unit and verify its not clogged, verify unit is level, also check the support struts/springs for the tub.

I'm suprised the unit was not able to spread a large load around to balance the drum. Maybe some item bunched up and made one side heavy. For a front loader, a proper load is just about all you can cram in there dry. You'll notice when the clothes get wet, they take less space, and when they are spun, there should be lots of room in the middle.

* Inspect the water pump for a blockage
* Inspect the coupling
* Inspect the transmission
* Adjust the drive belt tension
* Check the motor bearings
* Check the drum brakes

The above are possibly the general remedies for this problem.But possible if the problem still persists after this, possibly the drum bearings might have been damaged during the previous heavy vibrations.Please do post comments.Will be glad to help you out.Good luck.

Moved a Kenmore Elite and when we put it back in place it vibrates loudly. We tried leveling it and that has not worked. Any ideas?
