My accessory plugs don't work but the cigarette lighter does

Fuses are located in a plastic box, usually under the hood of your car. When they burn out, whatever they are designated to operate will not work. They are usually labelled. For cigarette lighter, it usually says, "Cig". Cigarette lighters are more important today than they used to be because GPS units and power invertors for computers and chargers for cell phones plug into them. The good news is that fuses are cheap and simple to replace.

The lighter in a Chevy Lumina can get lost easily if you routinely pull it from the socket to plug in electronic devices like GPS systems, cell phone chargers and laptops. If so, you need to replace it.

Your cigarette plug may have a short in I had the same problem with my phone charger and had to replace the cigarette outlet

Not a Peugeot expert, but its possible the charger is not going in far enough to touch the center of the lighter receptacle. Does the lighter work with the lighter element ?
Sometimes debris collects in the bottom of the receptacle and blocks the contacts.

There is a battery in the satnav but it's not user replaceable. It can only be replaced by returning it to Garmin. Before sending it away to replace the battery you could check the following;

• Have you the satnav connected to the charger?

• If it's connected to the charger is the cigarette lighter socket working. You can check by plugging in another device to see if it works
• If the cigarette lighter socket is working and the battery of the satnav is not charging it's possible that the fuse in the plug, that goes into the cigarette lighter socket, is blown.

To change the fuse;
Unscrew the ring that's at the end of the plug and the plug comes apart. Be careful not to lose the silver coloured tip. When the plug comes apart you can take out the fuse and get a replacement at any car accessory shop or a shop that sells garmin satnavs.

It's probably the fuse in the charger that's blown. The fuse is in the plug that goes into the cigarette lighter socket. At the end of the plug there's a ring, usually silver coloured but sometimes black, which you unscrew to get at the fuse. When you unscrew it the plug comes apart. Be careful not to lose the silver tip at the end of the plug which may fall out. You can get a replacement fuse at any shop that sells garmin satnavs or at any car accessory shop.

However it's likely that if the car charger is not working that the fuse is blown. The fuse is in the plug that goes in the cigarette lighter socket. To get at it unscrew the ring at the end of the plug. Be careful not to lose the small metal tip. When you unscrew the ring the plug comes apart and you'll see the fuse. You can get replacement fuses at any shop that sells garmin satnavs or car electrical accessory shops.

Before changing the fuse make sure your cigarette lighter socket is working by testing it with the cigarettel lighter or some other accessory.

The cigarette lighter plug should also work for the phone charger as long as the phone charger uses the cigarette lighter style plug(long with two metal contacts on the sides and a button contact on the tip). Most standard car chargers will fit both cigarette and auxillary style plugs.

replace the GPS car charger if the cigar lighter has power, but be sure of that 1st by plugging in another car charger like for a cell phone.

You should be, Check to make sure the fuse isnt blown on either the cigarette lighter plug or in the plug that has the wires coming out of it.
