My mx410 has error code 5100 cover not closed. Can't clear code

Error code 5100 on a Canon MX410 printer typically indicates that there is a problem with the printer's ink cartridge carriage. The carriage is the part of the printer that holds the ink cartridges and moves them back and forth as the printer prints.
There are a few things you can try to troubleshoot this error:
  1. Make sure that the ink cartridge carriage can move freely. If the carriage is stuck, try gently pushing it to the left and right to see if it moves more easily.
  2. Check for any foreign objects that might be blocking the movement of the ink cartridge carriage. This could be a piece of paper, a staple, or any other small object that has become stuck in the printer.
  3. If you recently replaced an ink cartridge, make sure that it is properly seated in its designated slot.
  4. If you have tried all of these troubleshooting steps and the error persists, it's possible that there is a problem with the printer itself. In this case, it may be necessary to contact Canon technical support for further assistance.
I hope this helps! If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Selphy DS810 printer. Error code 5100. Possible full waste ink absorber? I just replaced an empty ink tank. Can I fix this problem myself?

How long have you owned the unit? This problem occurred after you changed the ink tank? Once I have more information I can assist you further.
Thanks,

My cannon mx300 is giving me an alarm code 5100

5100 means either the carriage is not moving freely back and forth or there is grease or ink on the encoder strip. You can clean that clear plastic strip behind the carriage with a Q-tip, but also check on the right and left side for paper scraps stopping the carriage.

Cannon MP830 Printer cartridge jam

So you cant get the ink tanks in place properly?

Have you tried this method to ensure they're properly seated? Is the printer on or off when you try to seat the tanks?

Refer to the following steps to verify the ink tanks are seated correctly:
  1. Confirm that the printer is powered on and press the Open button. (The paper output tray will open.)

  2. Lift the scanning unit (printer cover) completely. (The print head will move to the replacement position.)

  3. Open the inner cover.

    CAUTION:
    a. Do not try to manually move or stop the Print Head Holder.
    b. Do not touch any metal parts.

  4. Press down on the ink tank until a click is heard, thereby making sure the ink tank is seated properly.

    Note:
Make sure that the ink tank is inserted in the slot that corresponds to the ink tank's color.

  5. Ensure that all the ink tanks are installed properly and the ink tank lamps light red.

    Note:
    Ink Tank Lamp
You can check the status of each ink tank according to the way its lamp flashes.
    • - On: The printer is ready to print.
    • - Slow flashing (at about three second interval): Ink is low. Prepare a new ink tank.
    • - Fast flashing (at about one second interval): Ink tank is empty, or the printer is not ready due to an error.
    • - Off: An error has occurred and the printer is not ready to print.
  6. Close the inner cover and the scanning unit (printer cover).

    Note:
    1. When closing the scanning unit (printer cover), be careful not to jam your finger.
    2. When starting printing next time, the print head cleaning launches automatically.

I have got error code 5100

5100 error code means there is somekind of obstruction inside the printer thats interfering with the printing process. You have to check the inside the printer especially near the gears and under the rollers. The obstruction can be anything like a small piece of paper, a paper clip, ball pin etc., check thoroughly and you will find it. Post back if you need more help.

Printer is flashing checkprinter 5100

dear bria13,
Code 5100 indicates carriage operation error. The printer performs initialization process (include carriage unit operation) at first time we turn it on. During this process carriage unit will move right and left reading film timing **** strip. If carriage unit can read film timing **** strip successfully then it will move to home position (originally on purge unit part). Otherwise error code 5100 shows.
Here are possibilities and corrective actions:
  1. Film timing **** strip become mist caused by grease or ink; wipe film timing **** strip with moistened cloth.
  2. Carriage unit faulty;replace carriage unit.

Error 5100

Have you taken the printer apart? as the issue I had with our spare printer was that the home mechanics around here had taken ours apart for some reason and had not put the paper roller pin back in correctly. it was sticking out preventing the ink tank holder from moving.

5100

I had the same problem too. Brand new unit and 5100 error comes on after power up. There is nothing jaming the ink cartiage, and it only moves a little bit to the left then jams back to the right. I can't even load in new ink cartiages. It's going back to the shop today.
