I have a top mount Frigidaire refrigerator and the fresh food door pops open. The rubber is not worn. The refrigerator was purchased in 2007.
Could you please advise what may be the cause and how to correct it.

I understand that you are having difficulty with the temperature settings on your Frigidaire refrigerator. Depending on your refrigerator style on a top mount there should be a cold control on the inside of the fresh food side that would be used to adjust your temperature. On a side by side or French door bottom mount the temperature control is located on the front control panel. Typically, as a "+" or "-" symbol to adjust the temperature. If any adjustments are made to the temperature, please allow 24 hours for the temperature to set properly. I hope this information has been helpful. -Matt
Are you sure you have the right model #?
Your refrigerator's model number may vary by type. The model number of a top freezer refrigerator can be seen along the upper left side wall of the fresh food compartment and is visible when the door is opened. The model number of a french door and side-by-side refrigerator can be seen along the upper right side of the fresh food compartment and is visible when the door is opened.
Based off the information you have provided your Frigidaire refrigerator is leaking water inside the fresh food compartment. If you could provide me your model number I would be able to provide more information. You can normally locate your serial tag (which lists your model number) on the inside cabinet of the fresh food compartment normally on the left side of a top mount. On a side by side it can be found on the right hand side. I look forward to your response. -Matt
The water filter is located inside the fresh food section. In the top right hand up front as soon as you open the door it has a push button to eject the cartridge or it is in the back of fridge section in a plastic cup that easily unscrews. A new filter can be purchased at a hardware store or local appliance repair store. they can also be ordered online.
If the model FRT18IS6CQG is correct your refrigerator has a defrost thermostat inside the fresh food section where the controls are. Need you to turn it clockwise until the refrigerator stops running. This puts the fridge in manual defrost. About 20 minutes later it should come back on without your help. If not we need to replace the timer. Let me know Sea Breeze
Move the refrigerator to a room that is at least 50 degrees F.
Temps on most refrigerators are regulated by the fresh foods temp. If your garage is let's say 35 degrees, the fresh foods temp will most likely never raise enough to turn the refrigerator on. With the refrigerator never running, the freezer compartment will warm to 35 degrees, resulting in everything melting. Even if garage is a bit warmer, say 45, the refrig will not run long enough for the freezer to maintain a low enough temperture. If the garage temp falls to below freezing, say 20 degrees, the food in the fresh foods compartment will freeze. (outdoor beverage dispensers have internal heaters to prevent product from freezing !) Please don't rate this if not a Fix-Ya for you, as anything else lowers my score.
the air damper is stuck open or tempature control is bad. look thru the vents(use a mirror) on the left rear(top side) of the fresh food compartment (right hand door) to see if the air damper is open/closed. i am sure it will be open since your freezing food in the ref section. if it is open ,watching with your mirror turn ref (fresh food) control off. the air dmper should close, if not damper could be stuck(ice build up,piece of foam, ect) if you can determine damper door is free, then best thing to do is replace controlassy.(120.00 or so) good luck
If Your Refrigerator's Freezer Door Pops Open When You Close the Fresh Food Door...If a 'top-freezer' refrigerator's freezer door pops open when the larger fresh food door's closed, it's actually a good thing. That tells us the seals are in great shape, sealing well. Some freezer door 'pop' is unavoidable bc the bottom door's so much larger than the top one and the hydraulic effect of compressing all that air kicks in. The two compartments share the same air via a duct between them, and that compressed air rushes up into the freezer compartment and can 'pop' the door. To improve the situation, apply a few drops of oil (sewing machine oil or 'three in one' - NOT WD-40) to each freezer door hinge pin. (Even better: if you can, pull the doors and coat the hinge pins with petroleum jelly). This will help the freezer door swing back closed by itself. The freezer door usually stays ajar because it's binding a bit, and that's usually caused by it's swinging 'dry', with no lubrication. It’s also a good idea to ‘kick’ the habit of letting the refrig door close hard.
