Very noisy when it spins out

It has a rumbling sound when it first is filling with water and then when it spins out it is super noisy.. WHat is the problem???Is a seal gone that can be replaced???

  • cvandenhoven Feb 19, 2009

We watched the video at the Neptune bearing .com site..It gives some help but how do you get to the front inside bearing??? It is easy to see how to get to the back with the back panel removed but how do you get to the other bearing?? Is that through the inside of the washer...Does the whole drum have to be removed first as they do not show any of that. Can you help?

You can change your Neptune bearings yourself. See www.neptunebearing.com. in addition, you can rent a special Neptune bearing tool that will help reduce the bearing change time and effort and it also includes a DVD that shows you how to disassemble the Neptune, replace bearings and install the seal kit.

Do you have the faulty door latch wax motor? See www.neptunehelpsong.com to hear the funny song that explains this common Neptune issue.

To get to the bearings you have to take the front of machine apart so the inner tub will come out the front and the spinner support is attached to the inner tub so it will come out to. The Neptune bearing tool rental includes a DVD that shows the disassembly process otherwise you will need to download a copy of the PDF service manual. The bearing and seal kit offered at www.neptunebearing.com comes with links to download the PDF service manuals

Buy a new washer. if you used it like this for a while most likley its curroded like mine and will not come out, or spend 180$ and some hours replaceing the whole tub. you gotta take the whole thing apart i mean everything. The problem is the bearing that the drum spins on has not more grease in it because water got in it and ruined it. a very hard problem to fix.

Hotpoint 1200 wd62n banging noise when loaded but ok when its empty ?

There are many reasons that this could be noisy...

When you turn the drum (quickly) when it's empty does it rumble? Bearings, drum support or motor bearings.

If it sounds like a pneumatic drill when filled and spinning it could be drum support, bearings, balance weight or suspension.

These are not an exhaustive list but the usual suspects.

Noisy & will not progress to spin cycle

The tub must pump down before it will go into spin cycle. My pump was making rumbling noises and when I took the basket out (simple process) there were a couple of bobby pins stuck in it. (kids) Cleaned it out and checked the flowpath with a wet and dry vacuum on the drain connection. Still makes the noise. There is a small zip lock bag under the control panel that describes the trouble shooting and error codes. It also says how to go through the diagnostics steps. Hope this helps.

The drum is very noisy when it turns and spins? There is no rattle but it sounds very raspy.

Sounds like the main drum bearings have failed.
Remove rear panel, and remove the drive belt.
From the front open the door ,and spin the drum by hand,
If it feels rough, or is rumbling at all, then the main drum bearings have failed.
If no obvious noise, then it could be the motor bearings that are noisy.
Hope this helps.

Washing machine noisy when on a spin

  • If a washing machine is very noisy on spin, the main suspect is the drum bearings. Drum bearing failure is common on many washing machines due to water getting into them if the drum bearing seal fails. (Hotpoint and Zanussi in particular in my experience) To check for drum bearing failure you can take the belt off and spin the drum by hand. If the drum rumbles when spun then the bearings may have gone. There should be a constant rumble all the time the drum is revolving.
  • Another drum bearing failure symptom is excessive up and down play in the drum which can be checked for by lifting the drum up and down from the drum lip behind the door seal. A further symptom of drum bearing failure can be a brown rust patch underneath the washing machine and down the back of the outer drum, underneath the drum pulley (where the belt goes) although this patch is not always present. There are usually two small holes at the back of the drum bearings where water that has got past the drum bearing seal trickles out, and it's usually stained with grease and rust if water has got into the bearings.

Transmission oil is leaking into the basket of wash and staining clothing. the unit is 3 years old. repair service said to contact you for repairs since it is covered for 5 years.

sounds like the water seal in front of the drum bearings has failed causing grease from the bearings to get into the washtub this is usually accompanied by noisy spin cycle and rumbling noises from the drum when it is turning
