Kenmore elite dual fuel range top ignitors clicking like lite mode is on, but it's not.

I had to turn the breaker off to get the ignitors to stop sparking. All burners on my Kenmore Elite starting clicking by themselves this afternoon. They all still ignite just fine, and there seems to be no other problems with the unit. But the breaker is off as the burners keep trying to light themselves now.

I can't find a model number anywhere!!! The best I can come up with is a placard that is riveted to the oven just behind the main door that says to call the sears 1-800 #. I've been inside underneath behind... nothing. The best I can tell you is that it's a Kenmore 40in. dual fuel range. Gas cooktop, electric (side-by-side) ovens. Thanks for your FAST help! I'll look into the spark module!

Wow, I feel dumb! Outside of the drawer, I found #790-74403-995.
I've removed the glass cooktop and I believe I found the ignition module. Is there a way to test this? Looks mint, but someone's been in there before as the cover for it was bent for previous access! Thanks again!

That's it, huh? I don't even need an ohmmeter to test it. It's immaculate in there and I can follow all the wires to the ignitors. What about wires marked "L" and "N"? (I would assume "Line" and "Neutral")? If I'm correct, as long as there's juice coming and going through these, that would prove the unit to be faulty. If this is correct, you are my new hero!

Look inside the oven door on the side or top frame panel, or inside the drawer on the side panel. Hope this helps!

Part # 318079000, best price I found was $138 at sears. Pull the wires one by one and see if each is grounded to the cabinet with an ohmmeter. If there is a ground wire on it, do not test that one. If none or the wires are grounded, the module is bad. If a wire is grounded, replace that wire or find where it grounds and repair it. Hope this helps!

You would be correct. Remember the voltage will be intermittent and may be different as would be stated on the module. Happy fixing!

It could possibly be you are not getting 240 volts to the range. The top igniter may be getting a current back through the other side of the 240 circuit and that is why it works when the oven is turned on but the oven will not be getting power to heat. Have the 240 circuit checked or make sure the circuit breakers are reset correctly.

Ignitor on range won't turn off

Hi,

No need to worry, this is a common problem after cleaning. Moisture gets into the switches that are behind the knobs. When they dry out they will be fine again. I would recommend unplugging the power cord or turning the breaker off while you are not using the range tonight. If you need to use it that is fine and it is safe, just annoying to hear.

Have a Viking range, gas top, electric oven, neither work.

Check connector block where electric is brought into stove for loose or burnt wires. Check Breaker in house power box. Push the breaker firmly to off and then return to On position. Read owner's manual to see if ignitor circuit has a fuse and check said fuse.
