Trying to unlock my rating guide on my haier tv w/out remote

Is it a Haier remote? Haier customer service person says that no Haier flat screen TVs or, for that matter, DVD players, are set up to be able to work with a universal remote; only their older tube TVs do. The Haier remote must be used. So we all can stop trying to find the codes. It wold have been nice is the user guides had revealed this unfortunate absence of functionality

Replacement on the Haier website is $19.99 plus a load in shipping.

I am not sure if your remote has a search code function, Most do. Check your instructions. I proceeded to go one by one through our remote's TV codes with the search code function, pushing the power switch after each code, until the set turned on.

We do not currently have any codes for a Haier TV, but we do have a Power Scan process which may assist you further. I have provided the steps below; if you would like you can look at steps or codes at the link provided below.

Power Scan to TV:

1.) With the TV on, press and hold the TV button (about six seconds) on top of the remote until all mode button backlights come on, then release.
2.) Press and release the red power button, then press the Up button once a second while pointing the remote at the TV. If the code for the TV comes up, it will power off.
3.) Press the POUND (#) button. If the code entered is valid for the remote, the mode light flashes three times. To verify the code works try several different functions for that equipment.

allday70, we don't have any current codes for a Haier TV, but we can definitely check it out and help you get that programming.

As there are no codes for that TV, I would recommend trying a power scan. I have posted the steps below, though you can view this link: http://www.dishnetwork.com/SupportSection/remote-setup for general information on setting up remotes.

To unlock your TV you must need the original remote of it. If you don't have then you have to purchase it. After the do the following for unlock you TV

Apex TVs have parental locks that allow you to block certain programs based on their rating. When this feature is no longer needed and you want your TV to display all programming no matter its rating, you must unlock your TV. Unlocking your Apex TV is done completely from your remote control and does not require any tools. The process takes less than 5 minutes.

1. Press the "Menu" button on the remote control and use the arrow buttons to scroll down to the "Parental Guide" option, then press the "Enter" button.

2. Type in the default parental code "6688" if you have not set your own code. If you have set your own code, type it in. If you set your own code and forgot it, override it by using "6688."

3. Use the arrow keys to switch the parental lock to "OFF." This allows all programs to be viewed no matter the rating. Press the "Exit" button on the remote and start watching all your channels

have you tried to leave it unplugged for 24 hours?, this may work!

go to menu settings and find the unlock code of your tv,if not working buy new original remote of your tv

I had the exact problem...tried a number of things that did not work. My dog "ate" my original remote. After reading your solution I took the universal remote that was programmed to work with the tv and tried holding down each button for a few seconds hoping that one would work like the display button on the original remote. It worked. I have a GE universal remote and the menu/info button worked for me. Again, you need to hold it in for a couple of seconds. It sounds to me like a child lock function, which is usually what the screen + padlock is on TVs. Usually your original remote would have a button / sequence to unlock the mode. If you still have your original remote, look for a child lock button or refer to your remote manual (and/or TV manual for the child lock feature) to unlock the mode.
