Toshiba 42wh46p convergence problem

Thats the way it works. You have to adjust the other colors to the red. You adjust the red from the back of the set using the convergence magnets on the tubes. Then you adjust the other colors to match the red. It's much easier if you have the plastic screen from Toshiba used to align this set.

Hello seems like u have a convergence problem if the colour red /blue /green around the outside of people or objects in one of these colours the convergance chip will need replacing but u can also check in your menu to see if this can b ajusted by remote only sometimes .

It sounds like you jostled the red CRT gun when you moved the set. If the convergence adjustment still moves the red cross hair the the circuitry is okay. Your red gun needs to be realigned. This requires a service call unless you want to attempt it yourself. It is fairly involved and requires some specific tools as well as using the service mode on the remote to reset the convergence after the gun is repositioned.

The convergence ICs and the six 1.8 ohm 1watt resistors need to be replaced. You can get the convergence repair kit for your model at www.tvrepairworld.com which has the Two Convergence ICs and the six resistors plus the CD with instructions on how to do the repair.

1.) If the blue will not move left and right you have a convergence circuit problem.

2.) Most of these sets use 2 STK-392-110 CONVERGENCE output IC chips--they along with any bad resistors around them need to be found and replaced.

3.) You can buy the chips for less than 14 dollars on Ebay plus shipping--if you are able to do this repair yourself you can save a lot of money as most TV repair shops charge 300-400 for this kind of repair.

4.) If you cannot do the repair shop around in your area and if they say it "has to go to the shop" keep looking as any good tech can do this repair in your home in about 1 hour.

Please don't be offended by my suggestions if you are experienced at circuit repair.
You may have a cold solder joint or bridged joint. Check and re-check your connectors for placement. It is normal to have to adjust the convergence and focus after replacing the IC's. There should be a row of focus knobs (ususally covered by a piece of black tape) with the screen controls.
The convergence IC's won't affect the visibility of a color only the alignment.

Hello, You need 2 convergence ICs if you cannot converge the red and blue lines on top of the green "cross hair". You should be able to use the front panel controls to move the red and blue around. If you can move them around and they just won't move completely on top of the green then the ICs are bad. The ICs are mounted to large,finned heatsinks and have numbers that start with "STK-" and have numbers following. These parts are available from http:\\www.tritronicsinc.com.

Does the blue and red crosses move at all ... eather vertically or horizontally. if they move at all then it may not be the chips.. could be a resistor. if the crosses dont move then it probally the ic. these chips run about 7 to 45 dollars apeace depending on type. at our shop we charge around 125 to put in.
