Lexmark Optra T614 no longer recognizes the duplexer.

Prints single sided only from Paper Tray 1. Does not recognize installed Duplexer or Paper Tray 2.

  • henryy Feb 15, 2009

Thanks. The printer has Tray 1 attached to the bottom of printer with screws and nuts - not easy to remove. I have tried reseating duplexer at bottom of Tray 1 - No success. I also tried reseating Tray 2 under Tray 1 - No success. I think the electrical interface that goes between two units has a problem. I need to find a wiring diagram for the printer and tray interconnections.

These 6 pin connectors have a clip on each side that is a part of the connector they are to hold the connector in place if either one of these has been broken the connector will not be held in place level and will not make a good connection. another common mistake is to install the printer onto these options with the printers power on. this can blow the fuse in some duplexers main controller and compromise the logic board in the trays.

Try reseating printer on top of duplexer/tray.

  • Paul schanzer Feb 16, 2009

There is a 6 pin connector on the bottom of printer on left side towards front. If neither 2nd tray or duplexer is recognized individually then check the connector, may have been pushed out of place. The connector goes to the engine board. You can see the connector when you take the left cover off

I have a Lexmark T634N printer. I have problem with it recognizing the 2nd tray and the Duplexer. I have replace the motherboard, replace the connector on the printer, updated the software on the printer...

Hi

You need to be sure that you have added the duplex unit and tray unit in the windows driver. The "device" tab will allow you to add the duplex and tray to the printer. Also there is a self-docking connector on the bottom of the printer that connects to a similar connector on the duplex unit. Check that these connectors are not damaged by lifting the printer off the duplexer and inspecting visually . You can try removing the duplex unit altogether and just install tray 2 below the printer with no duplex unit at all to see if the printer sees tray 2. If it does see it then the problem is in the duplex unit. If the printer can't see the duplexer it also wont see tray 2 which is below it. Simply re-plugging the units might fix it too so give that a try.

I have a 18 mo old 8500 OJPro wireless that won't advance the paper, makes a clicking sound and gives a false paper jam error. I have seen a split white gear within a black clutch assembly on the left end...

Follow these steps in the order presented to resolve the paper jam. Step one: Remove any loose paper Remove any loose sheets of paper from the input tray and the output tray. CAUTION: Do not remove jammed paper at this stage. Trying to clear jammed paper from the front of the product can damage the print mechanism. If you can pull it from the rear of the product or the tray, always try the rear first. Pulling paper from inside the front cover can cause mechanical damage to the product.
  1. Press the Power button (c01602202.gif ) to turn off the product.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
  3. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  4. Turn the product around so that you can access the rear side. Figure 1: The rear side of the productc01617574.gif

Printer says - "57 - Check Duplex Connection". What should I do?

On a printer, the "duplexer" flips the paper over, so that it can print on the "back" of a sheet, after printing on the "front" side.

Check that the duplexer hardware is properly connected & seated into its socket.

try changing feed rollers in tray. To test or temporary fix remove the rubber tires and flip them inside out, then reinstall.

LEXMARK OPTRA R+ SAYS LOAD PAPER 28

Try loading paper in both trays. Tray '2' is supposed to be the bottom tray. It is a much larger tray than the top tray which sits underneath the duplexer.

IBM 4039 drivers also work for this model.

Duplexer

If you really have an HP 4350dtn (d = duplexer), then the duplexer is not connected correctly. Look at the back of the printer for the duplexer. It prtrudes from the back drop down tray and is used to print on both sides. I would pull it out and push it back in to make sure all connections are tight.

Tray number 1 is the manual feed tray in the front of the unit.

Duplexer problem

First, the machine always prints the first page first. Make sure you have the right driver (4 plus and not 4)and check the settings in the device settings of your printer driver on the pc. Also make sure the duplex unit is for the 4 plus and not the 4.
