You should just have to plug the N300 into a wall outlet, and plug an ethernet cable into the ethernet/network port. Access the N300 by typing 192.168.1.1 into your web browser's address bar to access the N300. It has been a while since I set one up, but if I recall correctly it should just ask you to choose the wireless network taht you want to repeat, select your home network and enter the password for it and save settings.

SOURCE: no internet with wireless laptop

could be that the laptop's encryption settings are wrong and it cannot perform the DHCP and thus may reverts to 169.x.x.x which is called "auto-IP"

SOURCE: Lynksis Wireless Router does not stay connected to the Internet.

I suggest checking the documentation of your linksys router in the linksys site. Get the manual and that would tell you how to set it up. Regarding the router being broken, it is possible. Are you wired or wireless to the router?

SOURCE: DIFFICULTY IN THE WIRELESS ROUTER CONNECTION

1. Try to raise the height of the wireless router and or put it in a window if you need the range outside.

2. Try switching the channel that you are running on as some channels work better than others.

3.Your next step would be going with a nema enclosure (water tight box) and runing the router via power over ethernet and a power over ethernet adapter for the top side (so you can power the router via ethernet cable) and from the roof or attic you should get the range that you need. Keep in mind this will void your warranty and ethernet surge suppressor would be a good idea. Don't forget the router also needs air to keep cool or it will overheat.

4 if all that fails then the next step is going with router that will accept a pigtail(an adapter that connects a wireless card to an N type connection that most wireless antennas use) and a directional wireless antenna.

good luck.

SOURCE: I have a strong wireless signal but I can not get

Having a good wireless connection, does not mean you have an internet connection. Go into the router and click on status and see if you have an internet connection active on the router. You can click on setup in there and start again for settin g up your internet connection, you will need the username and password giving to you by your Internet Service Provider when you originally signed up with them

I have an N300, Model EX2700, and still cannot connect to wi-fi. I have 2 green lights on left side. Was this one a waste of money?

The N300 EX2700 is a WiFi Range Extender and needs to be connected to a Wireless Access Point already running somewhere in your house. Can you connect to the WAP ok? If you can, is the range extender connected to it? If it is try using the WAP button on the extender to try to connect to it.

Can I use existing directv service from my house to hook up a tv in my garage 800 feet away

Probably not unless the signal is strong enough to reach the garage. Check with your direct tv service if they have a signal extender (amplifier) that might just do the trick.

Most of those wireless units have weak transmitters good only for close proximity.

How do network extenders improve the range?

A Range Extender allows you to extend your wireless networks to areas of the home where the signal may not be strong enough. Whilst an Access Point allows you to add wireless capabilities to a non-wireless router.

I have a linksys wireless router (WAG160n) and need to extend the signal from my house to an outbuilding where I have my office. I can get a signal in the front room of my office but not in the main part....

You will need to install an WIFI extender in the front room of your office which will then extend the signal to the rest of the out building. I've included a link on Amazon to a very simple, easy to set-up extender that you can set-up with the push of a button. Once you set-up/configured the extender near your existing router following the simple instructions, you can then move it to the front of your office. Best of luck!

Wireless G ranges expander

when using the range extender you have to make sure you set the SSID, channel & wireless key in the range extender the exact same as the router also it has to be in the same IP range so if the router IP address is 192.168.0.1 the range extender IP address has to change from 192.168.1.240 to 192.168.0.240. once that is done restart the range extender and disconnect the ethernet cable & it the 2 lights should light up blue.
