WoW that would bite!!!

Sounds like shorted wires in the trunk area, or the computer for those systems is defective.

Not an easy thing to diagnose, even for a 20 year Master Technician like me. Suggest you head to the dealer if you don't know anyone thats very experienced at them.

Why do my trunk keep popping open every time I put my car in gear or my foot on the brake pedal I have a 1997 crown Victoria

Possible short to power from the brake lights. You may have cracked/exposed wiring in the trunk wiring harness that flexes each time you open the trunk. Check wiring harness at trunk ( you may have to remove tape/loom ) covering the harness to inspect wiring. Check harness where it bends/flexes with trunk opening and closing

I need to change the brake light in my 2004 Olds Alero

1 Turn off your Alero's engine, engage the emergency break and remove the keys from the ignition. Pop the trunk using the driver's side trunk release latch or by manually unlocking it.
  • Step 2 Slide your fingers beneath the carpeted trunk trim and peel it away from the trunk's interior.
  • Step 3 Remove the three wing nuts and bolts that fasten the taillight assembly to the car.
  • Step 4 Lift the taillight lens away from your Alero's body.
  • Step 5 Press the three small tabs to separate the taillight lens and the socket plate.
  • Step 6 Pull the defective bulb gently out of its socket. Dispose of the bulb immediately to keep it from cracking or dropping glass shards on the ground.
  • Step 7 Press the new bulbs into the socket plate and reassemble the taillight assembly.

** to find the correct light bulb(s) for your car go to your local auto zone, pep boys, etc

My daughter's 2003 Spyder needs the brake light bulb replaced. She is at college about 3 hours away and I cannot help describe what she needs to do to get the old one out and the new one in. Please help....

i dont own an eclipse but usually you can gain access to the brake lights through the trunk. with the trunk open there should be a carpeted cover behind the brake light. the cover usually pops open and you should be able to see the inside of the brake light from the trunk. find the brake bulb and it should just twist out. find the correct replacement from walmart or an auto parts store. the type of light is sometimes listed in the manual of the car if the store does not have a computer...

How to change the third brake light.

1.) unplug the connector in the trunk (its a small white plug running up to the third light, there should be a small clip you squeeze).

2.) remove the 2 gold-colored screws from inside the trunk. They can be seen from the trunk. 1 is thru the larger square opening where the wire connects to the 3rd brake light. The 2nd is on the right side thru a small (screwdriver width) hole covered by a piece of foam tape stuff I had to punch me screwdriver through the foam to get to it.

3.) after removing the 2 screws, go inside the cabin and the brake light housing pops up.

4.) disconnect the bulb from the housing while inside the cabin (I had to do this with me two forefingers since the housing only pops up and inch or two).

5.) in the trunk remove the wire and bulb. (it's about 5 inches long. the wire from the connector to the bulb socket)

    6.) reverse steps to install.

It is a pain and reqiuires a bit of time only because there isn't a lot of room to move around, but it beats taking it to the dealershio!

    Head lights will dim

You might want to check for a loose ground (negative) wire somewhere. That could explain the popping with the radio.

How to access brake tail light to change

Tail light replacement is not as hard as it seems.
Tools needed:flat head screwdriver and a deep 5/32 socket(a pair of pliers will work).
Step 1: open trunk and pull back truck liner at tail light. There is a small button clip on liner.Use screwdriver to pop up the center of button clip, pull clip out of hole.
Step 2:You will see a black wire attached to the body of car with 2 white clips.Use screwdriver to pop clips off of studs.
Step 3:Remove the nuts from the studs and pull tail light assembly straight back away from car.The outer side of the light just snaps in and out of place.
Step 4:Turn light socket counter clockwise 1/3 turn and pull out.
Step 5:Pull bad bulb straight out and replace.Reverse steps to reassemble.

How to change break light bulb 1997 geo prizem

Step #1 Open Trunk, on inside of the light housing close to the trunk latch area are 2 bolts, Remove them, on mine they were 10mm

Step#2 Inside the trunk are 2 Black clips that hold the carpet down They have flat heads that look like screws but they are actually clips that pop out

Step#3 Peal back the carpet in the trunk and look in the corner of the rear of the light assembly by the fender You will see a nut and the end of a bolt On mine these were gold colored, Remove the nut

Step#4 On the outside of the vehicle again take a screwdriver or such and gently pry the outside edge of the assembly to dislodge the pin holding it in place You cant see it but you will feel when it gives and the whole light assembly will come out toward the rear of the car

Step#5 The brake lights are the bulbs to the inside of the assembly, gently twist the socket counter clockwise and remove it from the housing, Then push down on the bulb and twist it to remove it from the socket, Replace with the new bulb and reassemble everything and You are home free!

Hope this helps, Took me a long time to figure this one out without an owners manual!

    Take Care and good luck
