Water goes into tub and drains right back out without agitating

Hello, welcome to FixYa. I understand you have a washer, "water goes into tub and right back out", correct ? To address this, and as long as water is indeed entering the unit here`s what I find is most common when dealing with the symptom you`ve described ( as long as water isn't filling over the top...that indicates a different issue ) I'd suspect the drain hose is lying down on the floor or is pushed down into the stand-pipe too far. If the drain hose is below the water level entering the washer it will siphon out immediately. The drain hose must be above the highest point the washer has to fill, ( refer to your manual, but it is typically recommended to be about "48 to "60 in height but not more than 90" or so ) **The standpipe drain requires a minimum diameter standpipe of 2" (5 cm). The minimum carry-away capacity can be no less than 17 gal. (64 L) per minute. A 2" (5 cm) diameter to 1" (2.5 cm) diameter standpipe adapter kit is available. " The top of the standpipe must be at least 39" (99 cm) high and no higher than 96" (244 cm) from the bottom of the washer.** Also if it is in a stand pipe insure it isn't pushed in too far, just a few inches and then secure it without completely covering over the opening or that too will cause it to siphon. Check your drain hose. Let me know if this was indeed the case and if so please rate the solution accordingly. If not we can move forward from there. Thank's for coming to FixYa and good luck. "4E" is displayed after hours

Please check the drain hose. Maybe it fell too low, so that when the water comes in it just drains out of the drain hose, thus the needed water level is not reached. If so, raise the drain hose so that the highest loop should reach about the same height of your washer

Just putting water in and draining at the same time wont fill and cycle

Hi, welcome to Fixya. Here`s what I find is most common when dealing with the symptom you`ve described. I'd suspect the drain hose is lying down on the floor or is pushed down into the stand-pipe too far. If the drain hose is below the water level entering the washer it will siphon out immediately. The drain hose must be above the highest point the washer has to fill, ( refer to your manual, but it is typically recommended to be about "48 to "60 in height...or potentially more if the washer is on a pedestal or some riser/platform ) and if it is in a stand pipe insure it isn't pushed in too far, just a few inches and then secure it without completely covering over the opening or that too will cause it to siphon. Do you hear any motor operating while this is happening ? If you answered NO, this further support's the idea of the washer siphoning out the water it is supposed to fill with. When you start a cycle and the unit begins to fill, stop the washer and inspect if water is coming out the drain hose without the motor/pump being "on". Check your drain hose. Let me know if this was indeed the case and if so please rate the solution accordingly. Thank's for coming to "fixya" and good luck. macmarkus :)

I have ''syphoning '' how do I extend my drain hose.

you can try looping and securing the hose up in the back of the machine higher than the height of the highest water level in the tub. you should have enough hose to do this.

I have a Hoover washing machine, its a front loader, I don't have the exact model in front me at the moment. I recently moved house, and yesterday after re-plumbing my washing machine, I put the washing...

If water remains in the drum after the drain cycle, the unit will not go into the spin cycle. There may be a couple of reasons for your problem.
Make sure the drain hose is raised above the machine hose outlet to create a siphon effect. The drain hose needs to have a loop in it to work correctly. You can tie a string around the hose and hook it on the water valve creating a loop in the hose. Raise the loop of the drain hose so the top of the loop height is at the center of the washer drum.
