No - I wouldn't wear new walking shoes straight away. You need to wear them in a bit. I always wear my new shoes around the house for a few days. This has the advantage of letting you figure out if they are going to be good for you before you head out walking and get blisters etc. also if you some reason you want to exchange the shoes, the shop won't take them back if they are scuffed from having been worn outside.
It doesn't matter how fancy a shoe is with amazing features etc. the key
issue is the fit of the shoe.
If your walking shoe doesn't fit you well, you will get blisters and sores.
It may sound
weird but it's actually better to go shopping for walking shoes at the end of
the day or after a walk, when your feet will be more swollen and more realistic
as to how they are while walking. Also make sure you wear the same socks that
you normally wear while walking.
Ideally, walking shoes should be replaced every 300 to 500 miles which for an average committed walker would be between 3 and 6 months. Don't judge it by how the shoe looks as the inner support could be worn away but the shoe still look great. You will feel the difference between an old and a new shoe.
